Yep, got a feeling you're right OT and saw an interview with Holmes the other day where he said all the right things about Duges but I thought there was some angst imo.
Regardless of where he plays for Scumulla his wingers or inside support wont see much ball from him. If only he developed a passing game he could have been truly elite.
Very good player Our Duges, I for one was hoping he'd stay and co captain for us, but we move on and I'm glad we've got him for the next 16/17 games. I'm hoping his vacancy will let one of our emerging youngsters shine rather than pick up outside mercenaries.

Sadly Most of our juniors have quite a journey to go to even handle the NRL step up as mcidiot won't blood them.

Even baths babes had some obvious yet young leaders like Edge at captain, Young, Reddy, JJ, Lord Ted.

No doubt but more incredible for mine was that we missed the semis in 78 and came back and won again in 79 quite staggering actually.

So let's just play young blokes for the sake of blooding them. Let's give them a participation award too. Like I said which young players are screaming to replace players in our first grade squad on form? We need to be worried about winning games , you play your best 17. Not next years, their time will come. There's not many jack birds but we aren't the only ones to have lost him.

We missed the boat on Jack Bird. That could have been handled better, but even if we did give him a crack I don't think he would be with us. After all the Sharks gave him a go, got him a premiership as well as Rep honours and he still left them.

I think every club could come up with a junior they've lost who in hindsight could've been handled better.

Exactly this , and when the team was having a shocker for a year he had the chance to change things and didnt . We really have only been playing well under Mary for about 12 games , and I doubt he would have made changes even this year if they were not playing well . Yea we are going well at the moment but changes and blooding of players could have been done over the past 2 years and it never happened .....
