It actually is a sin to look at a woman in lust.

Matthew 5:28

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
I dunno man. I don’t think some dude coveting my wife is going to give her AIDS.

My wife won't even let me go to Jade's place (work friend) to watch movies, which I want to do.
Dude, I feel for you. My wife and I have absolute different taste in movies with very little overlap... so I'd be lost without freedom to watch movies with other people from time to time.

Hi Bandwagon. Hope you are well.

John 14:8-9

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Is this some Oedipus complex thing?

I think the idea of 'critical scholarship' misses the point. If a holy book is indeed inspired by the divine, then the process of getting the words onto the page is irrelevant. Deities can deliver their message through charlatans just as well as through genuine prophets like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Andrew Tate.
You’re conflating critical scholarship and theology. They’re two completely different things.

Yes, I understand the claims made in the bible, I find them very unconvincing.

Because he wrote it as if it’s normal for wives to need to get permission from their husbands to do things. If you think that is normal that is your problem and says a great deal about you.
Totally agree! Women shouldn’t have to ask permission… they should already know their role.
