Dude, I feel for you. My wife and I have absolute different taste in movies with very little overlap... so I'd be lost without freedom to watch movies with other people from time to time.

I’d say most married people care what their spouses get up to, especially in regard to sexual interactions with other people. Not everyone is an ‘ethical non-monogamist’. I suspect those freaks are in the minority, God bless them.

I think the idea of 'critical scholarship' misses the point. If a holy book is indeed inspired by the divine, then the process of getting the words onto the page is irrelevant. Deities can deliver their message through charlatans just as well as through genuine prophets like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Andrew Tate.
