WEll the so called Crouch jinx was broken in the Sharks game last year (the 74-4 win)

Gotta play the Sharks @ Toyota which is becoming another Brisbane, Sharks havn't beaten Parra @ Toyota since 2000.

Since then
2001: 36-6 Eels
2002: 36-6 Eels
2004: 44-22 Eels

Chris Thorman: Played very well made a great bust to setup Burt's 2nd try also played very well with Witt showing the combination the two had going in the early part of the year in Reggies. Too badd it was shown too late to keep him, but a very good game.

Nathan Hindmarsh: Nuff said

Matt Petersen: 2 tries & try saving tackle on Sharks player who looked set to score, also got into a little biff looks like he'll be 2005's Stapo :D  Petersen has now cut out 90% of the brain explosions he was pronev to have and has become a very solid winger.

I agree with all those choices, but I just have to say:

I have been extremely critical of Petersen ever since I first laid eyes on the bloke, but I just have to say that if all 17 players played with half of his enthusiasm week in & week out - we may not have found ourselves in this current little predicament we call 12th spot.

The guy has an obvious pride in the Blue & Gold jersey, and for that alone I dip my lid to him

Sounds like good stuff from the whole team this game!! Can't wait to watch the video feed of this one! (UK Sky showed Saints v Warriors.)

It shows what we all know our side this year was capable of - despite the injury list excuses. Just a damned shame it couldn't have been consistent or happen for a few games in a row #-o

Evryone played well and noone stood out as being bad in the 17. Who do you think our wingers will be next year.
Peterson
Grothe
Burt
Id have Peterson and Grothe with Burt vying for a spot. But burt did play so well last night. Parra are gettin back to a bit of form looks it.

How much better did Burty play when he has some room to move, once again proving that he is not a centre.

He did play in the centres for a bit, but also played full back and even a bit on the wing.

BE ahrd for him to get a fullback spot with Wade in good form, but at least he should be now played on the wing.

In attack Burt loves some open space....but lets face it - 2 Cronulla tries can be attributed directly to Burty not putting in any effort at the back....I have always liked Burty heaps - but man I was giving it to him at times last night for being soft....if Wade had been our fullback last night, I predict a scoreline more like 40-4 - because I think Wade would have stopped 3 of their tries.

Thye got past Ash Graham very easy a sfew times, and we had to rely on our cover defence to save him

He is hoplessly short of pace at the moment.

Oh yeah, Ash struggles at times....he let in the 3rd try I took back off the Sharks in that 40-4 scoreline.

I also think Hopkins deserves a mention, this guy also has a lot of passion for the blue and gold and cops a lot of undeserved baggings here.
To me he is always very solid and last night went extremely well including a try saving tackle, some great hit ups and other nice touches with his passing, I for one wish he was staying with us.

He is not definate yet, is he, only rumours

I dont think we can let Hopkins and Ginger Meggs go, we should keep one of them

I thought Witt, Thorman, Hindy and Petersen were outstanding.

A special mention to Lee Hopkins - set uo two great tries and was solid in every aspect of his game.

James Webster

Outstanding impact from dummy half. This guy has a fantastic football brain. Always takes the right options. His size will always be his downfall but he doesn't shy away from taking on the big guys in defense. Great courage for a little bloke.
