This is a worry, but also a possible excuse..

"How is LGD-0433 performance enhancing?

Because LGD-4033 has been shown to increase lean muscle mass, some athletes might abuse it for the anabolic, muscle-building effects. Even though it’s not legally available in medication anywhere in the world, there are laboratories that manufacture LGD-4033 and sell it as a “research chemical.” This is a red flag, and any product marketed for sport performance or muscle building that also claims to be for “research use only” or “not for human consumption” is especially risky and should be avoided by athletes.

Most notably, some products marketed as dietary supplements are spiked or contaminated with LGD-4033. Moreover, this may or may not be evident on the label. The FDA has clarified that LGD-4033 is not a legitimate dietary ingredient, and therefore it is illegal to sell this ingredient in supplements. Any dietary supplement that advertises to contain LGD-4033 would be considered an unapproved new drug by the FDA and should be avoided."

Ibutaforen is marketed as anti-aging. Old grey was probably just trying to keep up with all the millennials.

Most these players do take some kind of supplement some even promote it, but do they really know what they put in them.

Probably not, but it's up to them to know! Ignorance isn't an excuse. It's one of the most crucial things they need to be careful of while they're a professional sportsman.

Going by Jennings' statement of innocence, I'd guess if he's guilty, it's likely that he took a supplement which contained it, but we'll probably never know how it was in his system, if the B sample proves it was.

That info I posted from usada, makes one wonder how difficult it would be for honest athletes to avoid this kind of thing. I mean if supps are spiked with this sort of stuff, they couldn't afford to take any. Maybe the mainstream brands, but even then, who can be sure unless they have batches tested by a chemist?

The supplement industry is massive and worth billions. The regulations are also murky, particularly in the U.S. No surprise some may be spiked with untested stuff to make sales.

As with all things, innocent until proven guilty.......well except for JDB and the like.

That's a pretty confident statement from Jennings though, and I hope he is proven correct, for his sake.

That's almost exactly the same statement that Shayna Jack and other Aussie sports stars have made when testing positive, though.

And?

I'm happy for him to be stood down from playing, as per protocol, but there should be some sort of community presumption of innocence until the B sample result is taken and released publically.

Not sure why you're all defensive about my simple statement.

I have no problem with players using whatever they want to use to heal any kind of injuries. What he used is hardly “performance enhancing” too. Besides, even if a player was to use an actual performance enhancing drug like just straight up Testosterone, to assume that team X might get an advantage because team Y had 3-4 players on performance enhancing drugs is just straight up ridiculous in a team sport of this many players such as League.

you are entering a world of “what if’s” and a world of “hypotheticals”. It’s almost like kids arguing if Batman can beat Superman in a fight, ridiculous...

Because Batman is human and superman is invulnerable. Batman could lace his suit with kryptonite though.

Except that it is, and that's why it's banned.

Do you know what players can use to heal injuries? Anything prescribed by a doctor. There is a reason these substances he has tested positive for aren't used in the medical field.
