I know nothing about contract negotiations but if that really is the only sticking point, wouldn't we just offer the fourth year but in our favor?
Yes but from the players POV that's not a 4 year deal.

So why dont we give him 4 years?

He is 24yo now, If he was 28 or 29 Id kinda understand

Has our recruitment team capped contracts at 3 years for everyone?

FFS the ex-wife of the ex-boss from a decade ago are still linked to the Eels.

Estranged wife of ex-Parramatta Eels boss pleads guilty to injuring four while driving drunk

The estranged wife of former Parramatta Eels CEO Denis Fitzgerald has pleaded guilty to injuring four people, while driving drunk in Sydney's Kellyville last year.

Lisa Mottram had been drinking with a friend at the Fiddler in Rouse Hill on September 16.

Court documents show she was captured on the bar's CCTV walking into a pole as she became more drunk.

Sometime after 9.19pm, the 4-wheel drive left the road, mowing down a family of four who were visiting Sydney from Hong Kong.

Paramedics arrived to find all of the victims lying unconscious on the grass.

A four-year-old girl sustained such serious injuries to her brain and lungs, and has not regained consciousness.

Lisa Mottram mowed down a family of four visiting Sydney from Hong Kong, with a child aged four remaining unconscious, her aunt paralysed and the dad struggling with head injuries. (Nine)
The child was flown by Care Flight to Hong Kong in November where she is being treated in hospital.

The girl's 55-year-old aunt is paralysed. Doctors say it's unlikely she will regain control of her lower limbs.

Now back in Hong Kong, friends say the family is struggling to cope.

The child's father is battling to recover from the lasting effects of a head injury which has changed his behaviour and affected his emotions.

Mottram's blood alcohol was found to be twice the legal driving limit when tested by police.
Neighbourhood security cameras show Mottram's vehicle swerving as she drove north along Hezlett Road. (Nine)
Detectives say she sent a final text to the man she was traveling to meet just two seconds before the near-fatal crash, a claim the hairdresser denies.

The case will return to court in June.
