On 2MMM after the game I heard the Fergo interview and Brett Reid asked him who’s dumb idea was it to play in the centres. He said it was his and BA trusted him and went with it.
I call bullshit.
Regardless of who suggested the idea, BA has to take plenty of responsibility for allowing it. He’s in charge of the final team that takes the field.
Yep and when he sat down with the team on Monday after Jennings was ruled out and was looking for a replacement centre and one of his leaders, with over 60 FG games experience at centre turned around and said "I'm happy to cover for Jenko this week" what would you have done differently? Keep Taka there?
BA wasn’t to know that Fergo was to have his butter gloves on however.
The alternative was Takairangi, Salmon or Hoffman helping Moses out against Kikau.
So are we going to change Fergo to the centres every time we come up against a decent edge forward from now on?
Which is what Fergo said in the ^^^^ interview. He said that as much as his offensive plays were really poor, his defence was great and did what was required.
