Tom Trbojevic, Curtis Sironen, Joel Thompson, Taniela Paseka and DCE had an ongoing ankle injury. Not to mention Martin Taupau being suspended.

If we had that kind of injury toll during the semis how do you think we would have fared?

Like for like injuries we probably still beat Boncos, just not to same extent and probably still get walloped by Scum.
Would they have gone better with those players though? Or did having injuries push the likes of Garrick, Suli, Sironen and Fainu play above what they’ll be able to consistently going forward and someone like Taufua continue to have a bit of a renaissance

That's right. It depends on how the backups play, as well as the opposition. In 2017 in Melbourne our third choice fullback was the best player on the field, plus the Storm probably took us lightly given it wasn't sudden death for them.

Depends if our opponents took us lightly or not. Also how well the backups performed. We went better in Melbourne in the 2017 finals with a worse team than the one that got belted down there last year.

And the 2017 Melbourne was much stronger than 2019 one.
