Surely the likelihood of a custodial sentence should have her locked up already? It seems straight forward. Drunk dope decides to drive car, destroys the lives of several people.

Hope they throw the book at her even if it means using the "ex-Parra CEO" headlines to make an example.

#dontdrinkanddrive

She wasn't only drunk, she was texting a few seconds before she hit the family.

And to those who don’t want massive punishments for players caught drink driving because ‘it’s not that serious a crime because no one got hurt’, just think about this case and what can happen.

That Greg Inglis copped nothing more than a slap on the wrist for his drink driving offense is a shame on the NRL.

Slap on the wrist? He’s been forced into early retirement to take on a job with likely no real job description paying the same salary as he was earning playing!

Every merkin who gets busted for mid to high range drink driving should not only say sorry in court, they should also thank police for catching them because if not caught, they could potentially end up like this woman and ruin multiple people's lives forever.... A driving ban and a fine is nothing compared to living with the guilt of killing or maiming someone and destroying other innocent families lives...

BA staying ??

Arthur set to stay as Parramatta set deadline for Gutherson
Christian NicolussiMay 13, 2019 — 6.39pm
Brad Arthur is poised to re-sign with Parramatta but the club has played hardball with captain Clint Gutherson by giving him until the end of the week to accept a three-year deal or look elsewhere.

Gutherson has held out hope for a fourth year and maintained he wanted to know what would happen to Arthur before he re-committed.

1aa39efb722dc93c4906968591a342b94e1ef068

Eel or no deal: Brad Arthur, far left, and Clint Gutheron, second from left, remain off contract after this season.AAP

The Eels have grown tired of the drawn out and very public negotiations and set Gutherson the deadline.

Bizarrely, while Gutherson was understood to be aware of the club's ultimatum, it came as news to his own management. It remains unclear who exactly who at the Eels set the deadline.

Gutherson has been linked with Manly. He still resides on the northern beaches, remains friends with several Manly players including the Trbojevic brothers and has already been discussed as a future Sea Eagles five-eighth alongside Daly Cherry-Evans.

While the 24-year-old now has four days to decide whether to take up the Eels' deal, Parramatta officials will meet with Arthur again thsi week to thrash out some of the final details of a new contract for the coach.

The Eels are intent on locking Arthur down and should he extend his stay only Brian Smith will have coached longer at the club. As it stands Arthur is the only current coach in the NRL without a deal beyond this season.

The Eels announced on Monday the club had secured $15 million in federal government funding towards their new $40 million community rugby league facility in Kellyville.

But the big talking point was whether Arthur would stick around long enough to enjoy the new digs. Players are expected to commence pre-season training in November at the new site as the club looks to cut short their lease at their temporary home in North Parramatta.

Arthur remained tight-lipped as Parramatta chief executive Bernie Gurr maintained the importance of giving the coach every chance to shine.

Gurr also told the Herald he wanted Gutherson and Mitchell Moses to remain at the club.

He said the 64-10 pounding against Melbourne would have no bearing on Arthur's power to negotiate.

"We ran 16th last year. But we needed to give the coaches and assistant coaches and players a representative sample size of games to tell us where we are at," Gurr said.

"That wasn't going to be four games. We're now up to nine games, so we're nudging closer to that representative sample size of games where they can show where they've come from."

As for Gutherson and Moses, Gurr said: "A key point is we want them here, they know that and we've told them.

"[A fourth year for Gutherson] is all part of the negotiation. That's why they call it a negotiation. But we won't discuss terms, whether it's the length of tenure or dollars. We won't talk about it publicly."

It was reported on the weekend Penrith's Dallin Watene-Zelezniak could be headed to Parramatta - and before the June 30 deadline if both parties could reach an agreement. Watene-Zelezniak was viewed as a right centre by the Eels but has spent the bulk of his career on the wing and in Gutherson's No.1 role.

Parramatta club captain Tim Mannah, who is hoping to negotiate his own extension without a manager, said Arthur was worthy of a new deal because of the way he had kept the club together through some turbulent and taxing times.

"He's definitely been the backbone for the club now the last five or six years," Mannah said.

"He held the club together through the tough times when administratively we didn't have a great team. Brad didn't have a lot of support, including a head of football. To get through that period the way he did says a lot about him and what he can do."

Mannah said Arthur had been "firm" at half-time as the Eels were blown away by the Storm and the players had responded well at training on Monday.

The Eels were excited by their new training complex, which is $18 million more expensive than their western Sydney rivals Panthers' academy. It will feature four international-standard fields with the Eels and local Hills Shire Council finalising designs for the first stage of the project.

Gallen and Gould think Gutho would be mad to turn down our offer...

Don’t think many out there needed to hear what gallon is saying. The general consensus is gutho is crazy trying to get more dollars. Unless the plan was always to return to manly. Not very professional either way by him. Love him as a player but he has left many fans of the game shaking their heads.

Fair call but footy fans have short memories. If he signs this week we will have forgotten about how this played out in less than a month I reckon.

Gutho’s manager Sam throught he could manage the media to get him a bigger deal!!

Well I reckon eels sneaky leaks has just f**ked him:

- ah we can just sign another fullback, your not irreplaceable. DZW option, leaked late last week
- hurry up, deadline leaked yesterday
- not much later, ah you love the club and BA, BA’s new deal leaked yesterday.

Additionally Walker cleared, so can’t be sacked, reduces Manly’s cap space and generally public / media supporting eels approach (except those pelicans on NRL 360)

His plan might always have been to push Arthur's case for an extension. He was pretty clear about it during an interview a few weeks ago.

Would be a ludicrous plan considering his past injuries. He’s had 2 mill on the table for the past for weeks and the sticky point is the duration. That to me alone tells me his decision isn’t depended on BA staying. I understand he’d like to know who his coach is before committing but risking 2 mill for the coach is insane.

Contracts don't explain Jekyll-and-Hyde Eels

The 2019 Eels are an exciting but massively inconsistent team and while some people want to point to contract uncertainty as an explanation, there are much simpler reasons for their Jekyll-and-Hyde form this year.

It boils down to two key factors: firstly, the huge lift they get from a parochial home ground and fantastic new home ground; secondly, they are a young and inexperienced side who are still learning how to be up every week and how to respond to adversity.

Part of that is learning how to win away from home – so far the Eels have won every game they've played in Sydney this year other than round three against the Roosters (which they led after 60 minutes) and lost all three games outside Sydney.

Let's look at their past five weeks; they had a poor loss in Canberra, being held to nil, than a huge high with the opening of their new home ground, Bankwest Stadium, and absolutely thrashed Wests Tigers. They went up to Newcastle to face a team that had lost five straight games and completely missed the jump, before a passionate home crowd helped them rally after a slow start against the Dragons. Then they met Melbourne in Magic Round, and that was just a complete disaster for them.

Match Highlights: Storm v Eels

Because they're such a young team they lack experience in a few areas and those last three road trips they've found themselves under some adversity early on and haven't been able to respond well. Their players will get better in those situations the more experience they get. It looks like they drop their heads when things go against them early, or in the case of the Storm game, they lost their heads altogether.

Things that might seem like a big deal to a younger bloke often won't seem like a big problem to an older bloke. Melbourne have Cameron Smith, the Rabbitohs have John Sutton and Sam Burgess, the Roosters have guys like Cooper Cronk, Boyd Cordner and even Luke Keary who has won two grand finals, who are all guys who have more perspective, know how to respond in those situations and get their teammates back on track. For young guys it's easier to get carried away with short term success and start to believe your own publicity.

The Eels have shown this year when they're on they can mix it with the best of them but it's about being able to do that every week and do it away from home.

At home they have this great new venue which is a huge boost and Parramatta is a big like its own little city and they're the kings of it.

It's hard to maintain that consistency every week, especially on the road, and I think you'll start to hear that become a bit of a catch cry for Parramatta now. This weekend's trip to Townsville is a huge test for them and a chance to show they've learned something from those past three losses.

One thing I don't buy into is the argument that contract uncertainty is playing on their minds.

Usually we talk about players lifting their games in a contract year as they try and push to earn a new deal because you're only as good as your last game. Even if it was starting to play on their minds it wouldn't explain the sort of performance we saw against the Storm.

Match Highlights: Eels v Wests Tigers

Sometimes player managers who don't know what they're doing put pressure on the player which can be an issue but across the board – and especially for the coach – that shouldn't be an issue.

Frankly, blaming the contract stuff is an easy out. If you're in the right team environment it doesn't matter if you're signed or not, you're confident knowing the rest of the stuff will take care of itself.

And Parramatta have been winning games so it really should be a happy environment at training this year. I'm sure they're enjoying themselves which will mean the players aren't feeling much contract stress because as a player you know if you can put in some good performances that stuff will take care of itself.

As a whole, the Eels are still a work in progress. They look a lot better than last year but these things take time. They are still learning every week. Look at the Roosters game – they went hard for 60 minutes but took their foot off the pedal at the end of the game and the Roosters took advantage. The Eels learned from that and played for 80 minutes the next week against Cronulla.

It will keep bouncing around like until they all get enough experience under their belts to have those experiences to draw on when things get tough on the field. And as long as they keep improving those contracts will get sorted out.

He’s right. I can never understand why our away performances are so much different to our home matches. We rarely turn up for away games.
