PARRAMATTA's major off-season buy, Aaron Cannings, has received an official warning letter from club management over an incident in a Byron Bay hotel last week.
Cannings was fined $200 after clashing with hotel staff in the early hours of Friday morning and stood down from the 24-22 trial win over the Warriors on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
But the Eels have declined to take any further action against the burly former Manly prop forward following a meeting between the player, his manager Allan Gainey and Eels general manager Greg Mitchell yesterday.
"Aaron was contrite over the incident and now fully understands the standards we expect," Mitchell said.
"He has spoken with coach Brian Smith and we believe being sent home from camp and missing the trial is sufficient punishment. But he has been issued a stern warning letter by the club."
Bulldogs winger Matt Utai will learn today whether he will be the first player to face the revamped judiciary.
Utai was placed on report for a high tackle on Canberra winger Steve Franciscus in the 30-12 win over the Raiders on Saturday.
The NRL was attempting to obtain clear video footage of the incident before deciding if Utai has a case to answer.
Former Test winger John Hopoate is yet to convince coach Des Hasler of his fitness for Manly's season opener against North Queensland on March 13.
