England A's Euro Nations Cup match should have finished by now.

Anyone have any info on the match, if Thorman played and how well he played?

England A won 102-0, im not sure on how Thorman played and in all honesty it probably isn't necasary considering the opposition....heck Ben Kusto would of score a triple against them.

The game against Australia was the one that really counted.

I don't think Thorman played. He certainly wasn't on the teamsheet before the match on Sky text. It said they were playing Rooney & McGuire, with Burrow on the bench. Maybe they rested Thorman for the Wales game, or possibly he's been drafted to the GB squad?

Here's a report anyway:
England A ran in 19 tries as they began their European Nations Cup campaign with a 102-0 defeat of Russia.
Wigan forward Danny Tickle led the way with 30 points from 11 goals and two tries at Odsal.

Mark Calderwood completed a hat-trick of touchdowns and set up fellow winger Ade Gardner for his own hat-trick to bring up the century with only four seconds left.

Russia, beaten 74-4 by Wales a week ago, made a bright enough start but centre Rafael Yakubov failed with an early penalty chance to give them the lead.

England took some time to settle but began to score steadily once Calderwood put them ahead after 13 minutes with a close-range try following a smart pass from Danny Sculthorpe.

Four minutes later, Jamie Rooney jinked his way through as the Russians found it hard to make an impact.

We set ourselves certain goals and one of them was to be ruthless

England coach John Kear

Tickle was next to cross the line following an inside pass from Calderwood after a long-range build-up featuring Rooney and Wigan centre Sean Briscoe.

Sculthorpe's handling skills led to the next try for Leeds stand-off Danny McGuire, whose club-mate Calderwood soon grabbed his second try.

Rooney and Tickle added further tries before the interval - and there was no relief for the Russians after the break.

"Within a few days we've gone from playing the world champions to playing novices in terms of international rugby league," said England coach John Kear.

"But we set ourselves certain goals and one of them was to be ruthless. I think we succeeded in that and I thought some of our play was outstanding.

"I felt a bit sorry for them but we had a job to do and there were some very good performances."

Its going to be interresting to see how Thorman gets used next year.

I originally thought that he would be the "utility from the bench".

The more I see of him, the more I think he will be wasted, siting on his arse.

Although Witt and Dykes wear the 7 and 6 respectively, it does not mean much in open play, where most of the action is.

At the end of the season, when Dykes came good, he played first receiver, and Witt was at second receiver. At most set scrums we see the winger or a back rower stand at 5/8, for the hit up.

At the chook pen we more often see Freddie to Pretty Boy Wing, in open play.

The number on their back does not mean much in the modern day game.

What that says to me is that Witt might be the one sitting on the bench, with Thorman at second receiver with the No 7 on his back, and yet most of us seem to think that Witt is the specialist No 7, so he has a gig in the run on side.

We may see alot of options in the trials, but I don't see Thorman being the utility player.

The other issue is, what will become of Morris, will he play at hooker for the whole game.

If he needs a rest, who will become the utility player.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

It's only David Waite's negative and defensive tactics that players like Thorman and Danny McGuire are not in the GB team, they ran rings around the Aussies last tuesday.

Thorman was rested from the England A team and replaced by another brilliant halfback Jamie Rooney.

Hey Misty have you seen the game ?
Thorman was playing behind a small packwhich struggled to contain the bigger Aussies but still managed to mesmerise them for a vast majority of the game, as for McGuire he played the last 20 minutes and scared the life out of the Roos with his footwork and skill, almost won them the game in the last minute.

Absolutely & don't forget a vast majority of The England A players where around the 20,21 years of age.

If Thorman kicked better then usual then a draw or win would have been reality.

Thorman only missed one shot at goal. The difference was that and the penalty goal that Fitzgibbon kicked on HT.

Thorman had a very good game against the Aussies and was unlucky with a couple of chip overs in the 2nd half which Lockyer only just cleaned up.

As for McGuire...never seen a Brit go through an Australian defence like that. With Davies in '94 he went through a gap and beat an out of position full back but McGuire beat 4 blokes in 10 years with the most incredible footwork to set up Lynch's try.

And Misty, England scored the last 16pts...the 1st of which came in the 50th minute. 80 minus 50 equals 30. Not 10 :)

Very even first 20 minutes. Then Australian dominance for 30 then English dominance for 30. 4 tries each.

No my mistake....i was thinking about something else..sorry

Waite is obviously giving Deacon a chance to prove himself at Haf for GB which i think is fair enough.

As for Mc Guire i would have liked to have seen him blooded in this series....it still may happen??, but i'd like to see him on the bench or at hooker....i think he could cause the Aussies some problems there.

Jamie Rooney + Danny Mguire are Definitely the Future halfbacks of Britain!

I am a wakefield fan and these two players are class above.

Rooney in his FIRST proffessional season made 16 Apps + 10 Try + 64 goal + 4 dg. He is a star on the pitch and runs things all over.

This season after only playing 16 games proffessional may have been too early to bring him into GB caps but this year he and MGuire are going to be at least in the starting 17.

Mguire i am not sure about but i know he is a good player.

Raz - Thorman will be a dissappointment at Eels as his defence is weak..he can either have a good game or a quite game.

A lot of people here are expecting big things from Thorman. I'm not so sure. He's untried at NRL level, and will have to usurp Adam dykes.

Is Thorman here yet?

A lot of people are pinning their hopes on this guy, we haven't seen him play I think a few people in here might be dissapointed as the English game is not as good as ours and anyone can look good.
