The train on squads for the 2005 English Schools Under-16 and the England Combined Youth Under-15 teams were named last week.

Both age-group teams have scheduled international fixtures in March and the preparations for their respective encounters with French Schools and Wales Under-16s are now reaching an advanced stage.

There are 22 players in each squad although they will both be reduced in numbers in the New Year with the Under-15s moving to an 18-man squad and the Under-16s expected to cut back to 20 players.

Graeme Thompson, the Rugby Football League’s National Player Performance Manager, said: “These squads are the top young players from their age groups and they are being offered the opportunity to develop international careers in Rugby League.

“The development of the squads and regular international fixtures at this level of the sport is an important part of our ambition to continually improve our position within the global game”.

That is a very good result for Wales, just to get that close to a a very good team...can only be a good singal of their future talent!!

France seam to always struggle at the U16 bracket!?!

Did Ireland or Scotland play England last year?
