Which venues should we be looking at? Wembley, Etihad (unlikely during the football season), St James's Park, Anfield. Or the usual 25,000 seater suspects? Let's go for it. With a year to sell tickets we really should be looking to sell out three 40,000+ stadiums.

Would like to Wembley used for sure we have some good crowd momentum there for internationals and the last game is to still fresh in the minds of many.

Game 1 Wembley
Game 2 hull
Game 3 city of manc or old Trafford

I hope there are other tour matches. Games against the French and
Wales or a combined celtic nations would be nice.

Problem is it will be difficult to arrange in football stadiums as it is during the league season and the fixtures are unknown until not long before.

One answer could be to arrange over an international weekend if there is one around there.

Wembley has to be one game, probably the first.
Then one in old Lancashire and one in Yorkshire.

Would be cool if they also had a mid week game or two vs club teams.
Go proper old school.

Awesome news....

Just a question on stadiums... With the Rugby Union World Cup being on around that time... Will that effect what stadiums are available??

Because I know when they hosted it down here in 2011 all the RWC venues were unable to be used from 6 weeks before the tournament to 6 weeks after it.

NZ played the northern union,in the 2nd test, at stamford bridge on the very 1st tour in 1907/08

If the Union World Cup venues are actually "off limits" why not start after it? It would still finish earlier than the RLWC last year. A bit of an outline of what the 'big 3's' schedule could look like:

3-4th October NRL & SL Grand Finals (If achievable with SL's new structure)

10th October - \
  • PNG V Australia - Would like this to become a yearly TEST match, even if Australia "rest" players. Kumuls V Kangaroos (not 'Prime Minister's XIII') in one of the new stadiums being built in Port Moresby.

16-18th
  • Wales V England
  • France V New Zealand

23-25th
  • Ireland/Scotland/Italy V England
  • France V New Zealand

Then play the Baskerville shield:

1st November - Wembley (Day after the RUWC Final in London).
7th - Etihad/Anfield
14th - Elland Road/Bramall Lane

I'd like to see NZ commit to a 2 game series against France as well seeing as how France had planned to tour NZ originally.

Add in RLWC Qualifiers and games/tournaments from the likes of Scotland, Fiji, Samoa etc and you have a nice little calender of International Rugby League.

6 weeks after?! Are you sure? That's sounds very unlikely

Had not considered bramall lane. Would be nice to see a test there or in the midlands as a means of properly spreading the gospel.

What is the status of the Pacific nations in 2015 will their nrl based players be forced to "rest"? If so it would be a disgrace. We would be going from promised increases in their football to none at all/barely any for nearly 3 years

Seriously don't understand this rest period shit though.
It's not vital for us to have our 100% best team out playing every international match,
in fact it'd probably be better if we rested players more often so the other nations could have a better chance.
We could beat England and New Zealand with the Queensland side alone, a second string side would probably be thereabouts with England and New Zealand.
There's not that much of a risk to resting players

if you look at who out injured for australia for the up coming 4nations

paul gallen - drugs ban
darius boyd - battling demons
nate myles - bicep
andrew fifita - broken arm
josh morris - likely to be rested to sort his knee out
brent tate - retired

thats not far off being 6 of australias strongest 17 out with injury...all of them would defo be in the 24man squad....so theres a case to answer that the aussie squad will have a somewhat 2nd string look about it..

According to Steve Mascord the decision to allow Australia to take a year out came off the back of the Kangaroos playing in the UK for , I think, 4 years out of five. It was supposed to be a one off but for some reason it's now been used whenever the RLPA want to use it. Mascord also says Australia should play every year and if some players don't want to play then there are plenty of players ready and willing to put their hands up to play. Totally agree.
