Eric Grothe and Tim Smith update.

An article in Wednesday’s local Parramatta paper alarmed me as it stated that Eric Grothe was off-contract after this season. So I telephoned the football club at Parramatta Leagues. A young lady (Who had to ask someone to confirm) said that Grothe was signed for next year. So I then asked her about Tim Smith. She said that his contract expires this year BUT he was in the process of re-signing for next season.

All that "in the process of re-signing" might mean is that Parra are at least talking to him about re-signing.

I think it would have been silly to assume that Parra had not talked to him at all about resigning.

Now whether he is keen to go elsewhere is another issue. :?

Well, I'd say that is what the confusion is.

It is an options so technically speaking Grothe is off contract but Parra intend on taking it up just havn't officially announced it yet, so that is why the press is still running it as Grothe off contract.
