Ireland looking like they will be without O'Shea for their matches...

The Montenegrin defender who Rooney kicked to get a red card has written to UEFA asking them to reduce his ban. To be fair, I think 3 games for that was very harsh....

I'm torn over which game to watch, they're all on more or less at the same time. Leaning towards Croatia/Turkey at this stage, Bosnia/Portugal coming in second...

Play-offs coming up on Friday so time to put my neck on the line and tip a few winners:

Croatia - the toughest tie to tip. Have gone with Croatia only because the 2nd leg is in Zagreb
B&H - Ronaldo to go AWOL like he always does in big games
Montenegro - far more impressive over the first qualification stage than the Czechs
Ireland - Estonia's dream run ends here

Being Portuguese myself, I hope they can get the nod.
It'd be good to see Ronaldo play well (much like he is for Madrid), but I'd like to see other players step up as well, and not rely on Ronaldo so much to create something.

Ronaldo might play well, but there's every chance Nani will be there to f*** things up for him  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5gDJfFvObg

All four of these matches are pretty tough ones to call... For me the biggest X-factor is Estonia. I've been following their results all tournament (waiting for them to get thumped) and the bubble never burst, they stayed pretty consistent throughout. But I never actually watched one of their matches, so I'm curious to see how they'll go. The Irish will definitely be tough though, they have some quality players in there and will still be hurting from missing the WC. They will surely be favourites with the bookies...

But to me, Croatia/Turkey should be the one to watch. I'm looking through their squads now, and Croatia do look better on paper, but then Turkey have Hiddink in their corner, so that evens the scales a bit. Also, Croatia have been very mediocre in their more recent qualifying matches. I really can't split these two...

That is glorious .

What a goal that would have been as well.
Dumb as pigsh*t isn't he...

So, tonight's matches, a few last minute news bits that I'm hearing:

Czech vs Montenegro:
Petr Cech is 50/50 chance of being fit

Turkey vs Croatia:
Injuries to Kranjcar and Petric. Olic and Pranjic have been called up

Estonia vs Ireland: No Robbie Keane would have to be the biggest talking point here

Bosnia vs Portugal: No notable absences as far as I'm aware...

Let the games begin!

Turkey getting destroyed 3-0 in the 70th minute :D
so good isn't it! Wish i was there to see the looks on the faces of the locals!

I caught the last 30 mins of Bosnia/Portugal, Bosnia just seemed to shit their pants every time they got close to the goals...

I think we can pretty much call it now, who is going to Euro 2012, it's gonna be Portugal, Croatia, Czech and Ireland... So i guess in the end, all the 'on paper' favourites progress...

I think Portugal/Bosnia will be the one to watch on Tuesday, Bosnia will be playing for the 1-1 or 2-2...

It was great to see Ivi get through nearly a full game after a horror 18 months. If Croatia don't stuff up they'll be the dark horse again in the Euro.

It baffles me how Bosnia's strike power deserts them at times. I haven't watched it but reading your post and the report they controlled the midfield in the second half and missed sitters. I won't write them off because Portugal are not all that impressive when the pressure is on.

Czech's 90th minute goal should see them safe unless Montenegro pull out a shock but I can't see it.

Ireland get their second which should unfortunately see another dour British nation make the finals.

Yeah I'm hoping like hell portugal choke at home, but it'll be a close one...

update; third goal for ireland, robbie keane! I thought he wasn't playing!? I guess they've cemented it now...

PS: great night of Olic, as you said, glad he got a goal. When a player is at that age every match (and goal) is so much more precious. I hope he gets proper match time at Euro 2012...

Interesting result in the Portugal game.
Makes for an interesting game in the 2nd leg.

Any goal scored by Bosnia, and it'll make it tougher for Portugal.
Looking forward to it.

Just saw the Estonia/Ireland highlights. No doubt Ireland were the better team, but gee trapattoni's got them playing like a bunch of italians. Just about any time there was a foul they'd charge the ref (led by robbie keane) and force a yellow out of him. That's partly what got two of the Estonians sent off. Watch this guy's first yellow, could so easily have been a yellow to the Irish player for diving...
