Eventually Hayne will be our 6.

Iv had this thought about Hayne for a while. He does not have a complete skill set for any position except for the wing.

Fullback and center he struggles with positional play, five eight he lacks organisational skills. But his effectiveness at fullback is too much to throw away. He does to many good things to deserve to be moved.
This is very true, as seen again tonight.

In defence Hayne could just play on the wing, we know he can handle it there - that's where his entire rep career has been played. Burt can defend at fullback, as he knows positional play and does a decent job without as many f**k-ups as Hayne.

After Hayne makes the occasional kick return from the wing (which he's doing as fullback now anyway) he can then just have his current roving commission in attack. Call it fullback, call it five-eighth or whatever... he can even keep wearing the #1 jumper if it makes him happy.

Burt will simply shift out wide after the first play the ball, and still be an attacking option like we're used to on the wing. Gets the best out of both players, and probably saves more tries through Burt's superior positioning.

He still isnt organising a set of 6. Just a set here or there. He wont give us what we need at five eight right now. Not yet.

No it doesnt work like that. That might pull the odd victory here or there but it wont fix the overall problem long term. Jarryd needs to learn more about the position.

He, as Parramatta fullback, will do more then most clubs fullback' because thats what works for us. Dugan never passes the ball because thats what works for Canberra. We need Hayne to do what he can and is trying to do. Hayne is not the problem, he has flaws in his game but they arent consistant flaws. He doesnt always have bad positional play, its just exposed more now because we are in a rut and we are also under-estimating the opposition.

Hayne needs to improve it yes, but its not something that needs drastic positional play. Its like when we used to try and counter Grothe coming up in defence by having the fullback behind him to cover for him. Its rediculous. There is no way that we should alter an entire defence or attacking line because of one players flaw. Either the player improves or is dropped if the flaw is big enough. And Haynes flaws arent big enough, might be enough to keep him out of the Blues number 1 though.

Doesn't need to be a organising 5/8, that is what the half back is for. At 5/8 he will offer more then mortimer. And he can run the ball, is a good kicker and has a good passing game. The only difference from fullback will be he will need to make some more tackles - if he was small I would be concerned but he is 100kg so should have no problem with the extra defence, will just need to pick up his fitness.

Another bonus is burt will play fullback and he has a good kicking. This would give us 3 kicking options, burt , keating and hayne.

Another thing Mccrone tries wasn't Haynes fault he just stopped a try from the previous set. He can't be in two places

but the halves currently cant do jack sh*t without him

Actually I think the halves would be better off if Hayne was used to run off the rather than playing the dominant role. Clubs know that if they shutdown Hayne they stagnate the attack. They are relying too much on Hayne and the halves are unsure of their role.
