This sounds cool, possibly that movie about the Asian guy who always dreams of playing footy.

I remember reading something about a League movie going into production, something about a Uni team full of non-league types (music and art students) entering a comp. Can anyone remeber more?

Yeah, i remember this, its about a whole bunch of students just going in and having a go. Was it a Conservatorium of Music team? I'm leaning towards it being that, great story!. You'll find though, that this is a movie by Koa Do, Anh Do's brother who filmed a documentary about the people of the streets in the Western Sydney area. There was a small write-up about this movie and seemed pretty damn humourous and had some good potential

Chris Anh do son? The guy who used to coach Cronulla? I think you have the spelling wrong. His nickname is "Ando".

I work at a western Sydney council, and spoke to a producer about a month ago, who was working on a movie called Footy Legends, and seeking permission to film a scene at a local shopping centre.

I did some further research on this, and when I found out that it was a movie about rugby league, I was excited!

Sounds right to me, defnitely sounded like a laugh. I think the article claimed it was based on a true story didn't it?

Karvan a Footy favourite

Claudia Karvan is considering a leading role in Footy Legends, the feature film that is expected to propel director Khoa Do towards mainstream success.

Do, who was celebrating his award as Young Australian of the Year last week, has pulled together a promising potential cast for his new movie - the follow-up to his critically acclaimed independent film The Finished People.

But while The Finished People focused on the harsh realities of life in Cabramatta, Footy Legends will be an upbeat comedy, exploring the NSW obsession with rugby league.

Do penned the script for the film with his comedian brother Anh Do throughout last year, and the project is now in pre-production, awaiting a final decision on finance from the Film Finance Corporation.

If the project gets the go-ahead early next month, it is likely to be filmed mainly in Sydney, with Karvan a frontrunner for one of the leading roles.

The other key actors negotiating with producers are yet to be revealed, but sources close to Do have revealed a number of high-profile league players - from past and present football teams - are likely to appear in the film.

The 25-year-old Vietnamese Australian director is one of the hot names in the local industry and one to watch this year. Karvan is also enjoying renewed attention at the moment, because of her role in the Foxtel series Love My Way. (It would be great to see the series on free-to-air television at some point.)

Footy Legends is likely to be released later this year.

That's a book called Mozart Maulers by "Dorian Mode". It's pretty funny and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's also crying out to be made into a movie.

Having read the book just recently, I would highly recommend it for a good laugh. Agree with Tighthead in that it would be a great movie if done correctly.
