Ok so I was talking to a workmate the other day and the topic got around to Facebook, and how I had noticed a particular someone who had become a regular in my suggested friends list, that particular someone being an ex-girlfriend who I have never, ever even entertained the idea of looking up on Facebook or any other (social media) platform.

My workmate said that for someone to appear in your suggested friends list, without you initiating any contact or dedicated searches for that person, is a sure indication that this person has been checking out your profile - ie. STALKING for lack of a better word.

Facebook are apparently on record as saying that a person appearing in your suggested friends list does not in any way have anything to do with that person visiting your profile, but is actually a "friends of friends" list - how is that possible when my ex is not friends with any of my friends or family either on Facebook or in day to day life?

I know the easy way out of this is to just block this person, which I have. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experiences or opinions on this...

My understanding is that it works off people you’ve called or messaged, even from ages ago. In my suggested friends I have random clients from 5-6 years ago that I have no mutual friends with.

Yeah if you've given them permission to search email or text contacts then thats another way to trigger the "suggested contact" feature.

Like Vic I have work contacts and third parties I had emailed from my work email.

Delete your Facebook account and live your life like true humans do.

Thanks! That'll definitely make it so much easier to keep in contact with all my mates overseas, it'll be so much easier sending them letters via carrier pigeon!

You can still use FB messenger without a FB account.

I’ve deactivated Insta and FB (1 year) and I’ve never been happier.

Fair enough. I like seeing what people are up to, and FB allows for short, relevant convos and joking around and shit.

I don't actually use it that much really, much prefer SMS even for folks overseas. I just can't get over what a stereotypical whiny old codger the bloke I quoted is

Probably to an extent where it becomes stalking or voyuerism.

Been honing your grooming skills lately>

Yeah that's it, I'm grooming my mates. For butt stuff!

Couldn't figure out how to do it in person so I've taken to their social media accounts instead. It really is the only way to go...

Ya f**ken imbecile
