FAN DAY - With Conditions

As much as i dislike Parramatta,at least they appear to be catering for their fans a lot better than Penrith.
Parra's fan day is on a Saturday for ALL their fans.
Penriths is on a THURSDAY NIGHT and its for Season ticket holders ONLY so if your not fortunate enough to be able to afford a season ticket,or if you actually happen to be working, bad luck!!
I hope this isnt a sign of our club becoming elitist and forgetting those who were there in the bad times and not just a fair weather supporter.
First the round four game moved, and now this.
Is this the price of success????

And don't forget the dumping of the Supporters Club.

I think someone i know asked as to the reasoning of the Season Launch Day being moved to a Thursday ... apparently their schedule didnt allow them to fit one in on the weekend.

They did have a fan day of sorts and that was the recent public training day at Nth Richmond again that was at an inconvenient time for quite a few. A few of my friends actually had to ask for a early release from their work to get there. I hope the club appreciates that the supporters are doing those things to get to these venues and repay them in the future by making organised fan days to be more accessable by a wide range of fans.

A true fan only has to look within their heart, they don't need to attend a fan day. But I think the clubs in general should do more things for kids. Eg. players attending more local schools and putting on free coaching clinics etc for underprivileged kids and all that warm fuzzy stuff.

From what i hear they already do those sorts of things. How often is anybodies guess i suppose.

Maybe they should be publised more in the local and on the net for those of us who are not accessible to the local.

In my opinion it would change a lot of peoples tune on how little is done or offered or volunteered by the club if there is accessible reading on what they do week from week.

I was lucky enough to leave work early for the Richmond training session but I've been off sick this week and I won't be able to leave early next Thursday for the Season launch. At least I won't be game enough to ask anyway. I'm going to try to leave early for round 1 because I would like to watch the Premier league game as well but I don't know how I'll go with that one. At least for round 4 now I can leave at 5pm and head over to PK's mum's place. Thanks chick. :D

Actually while it is true that this years fan day as been shifted from saturday to a thursday night the restricting of attendence to season ticket holders is as it has been for the last few years.

In fact last year it was restricted to the reserved seating season ticket holders only with GA season ticket holders being excluded from the event. Not sure whether the same applies this year.

Granted,but the question remains WHY?
Is there a mindset at Panthers that only season ticket holders are "genuine" fans?
As Fibro said, you only have to look in your heart to see that you are a True Fan, whether you have a season ticket or not is irrelevant..but it bugs me that it appears(to me anyway)that EVERYTHING has a price tag and that pretty soon fans will be charged to go to open training days or you will need a pass to watch!

Yeah.......I'm a reserved season ticket holder and have been for years, so I get to
go to all this stuff anyway, but it's still a sad state of affairs when they seem to be
going out of their way to cater to season ticket folk only.

And holding the season launch on a Thursday afternoon is ridiclulous. Just about
everyone I know has to work, and is going to find it almost impossible to get to the
event at a reasonable hour.

If other clubs are available on Saturdays, then why is Penrith so busy that they
couldn't keep one lousy Saturday morning free?

I'm waiting to see if the death of the supporters club is going to mean extra events
for season ticket holders, because that is the impression that they have tried to
convey. If they have dropped the supporters club and are then trying to give
everyone the impression that they will give more to season ticket holders, in an
attempt to entice the supportyers fans to take up season tickets, then they would
want to follow through on those things, or put up with being accused of hoodwinking
people.

I am a first time season ticket holder for this year, because I am now in a situation where I can make it to games on a weekly basis. I got a letter last week about the fan day next Thursday, and I thought that it was something to look forward to, but when I found out it was only for season ticket holders, I felt a bit agitated, because if I wasn't "talked into" becoming a season ticket holder a couple of weeks ago, I would not be able to go.

I am sure a lot of people that are not seaosn ticket holders know of next Thursday, and feel left out. It's natural, I would.

I know there was the day at North Richmond, but it was a place in the middle of nowhere and held at a time where people who work would have struggled to make it. Maybe that was the general one, with the more exclusive one occuring next Thursday, for season ticket holders only.

I think there should only be only one fan day, which is open to all. To me, this is creating a class system of haves (season ticket holders) and have nots (non-season ticket holders). This is a situation that should be averted at all costs.

By all means, have a supporters club, and give benefits to season ticket holders.

But it seems that true fans are being classified as the ones that can afford season tickets. I really do hope it's not the case.

I guess that answers your question CP, because i'm pretty sure Roo is a GA Season Ticket Holder.

Yep Roo is a GA STH. I went to last years Season Launch on March 8 and I was only a Supporters Club member. Is that the one you're talking about CP?

Yeah i am a little confused as i was a GA season ticket holder last year and a supporter club member and i was invited to everything going around...not that i could make any of them.

Well the one on March 8 was so the STH and Supporters Club members could pick up their tickets and supporter packs. I was invited to everything as well and this is my first year as a STH.

I'm confused now #-o

It was good - a bit of dodgy organisation with the pickup on season tickets though... they didn't verify names, they just assumed you were the person you said you were.

The players were fantastic though, staying around until the last person who wanted autographs (which were a heap).

Oh, and MP now has enough bread rolls to last her to Christmas!

Actually it was Pantherette that got the bread rolls Roo.....but I will be eating at least one
of them at my grandson's birthday BBQ on Sunday. They await us in Pantherette's freezer.

Great snow cones too .......I had two of them.

I thought it was a HUGE mistake though, having the massive long lines for the
autographs and the food and drink right next to each other. It was chaos. Nobody
was sure what line they were on.

Next year they should serioiusly think about doing the autographs somwhere on
the western side of the ground and leave the food and drink and the kids stuff on
the eastern side, at least it would be clear to all which section was for which.

The guys were great though. It took at least three hours for them to get through
everyone. We should know because we were the last to get autographs bar about
2 or 3 people after us. We left it till the end, so as to avoid the crush, and we were glad we did.

At the end you could see the poor guys had had enough, and couldn't wait to get
outta there, but they were still smiling and friendly and joking with us.

Girds is looking well too, but a bit thin poor guy and still needs some building back
up in the gym. He admitted himself that he's still a bit weak, but he said he was
training hard, and is hoping to be right by the second round if possible. I was glad
to see him back and in such great humour.
