England Vs Samoa

Yardage
Samoa - 1488m
England - 1217m

Completion Rates
Samoa - 91%
Engalnd 80%

Errors
Samoa - 5
England - 10

Line Breaks
Samoa - 5
England 5

Missed Tackles

Samoa - 21
England - 28

Offloads
Samoa - 14
England - 5

In fact the only telling stat England won all night was the penalty count 9-6, well that and their conversion rates.

If not for some shocking calls from the ref and some slightly skew goal kicking Samoa's dominance would have been translated to the end result too.

I hate to break it to you but you support the 4th best team in the 4nations.

Ask Tim Sheens who they would rather play next week when a loss would mean they are kicked out of the tournament - team 3 Samoa or team 4 England :D

England had not played for 11 months and gave debuts (yes we are allowed to give debuts too) to 4 players in the starting 13. Our whole back row from our last match (WC SF) was missing - including our captain.

England will be ready next week. Get Inglis on the Dioralyte and DCE on the tackle pads and you might be competitive.

Geez that's a lot of excuses for playing a nation who scraps together all the discards of Australia & NZ.

As for who Tim Sheens would prefer, who cares? The bloke's got no idea.

So why did Australia make the same whiney excuses this time last year when we nearly knocked them over in Cardiff?

lol Australia are rusty and lose 2 key players for the game against a confident Kiwi side and suddenly the Poms have nothing to worry about? Even when they had the closest of shaves against a Samoa side who have centres in 3/4 of their spine?

Jeezus talk about over confidence based on nothing.

So the Aussies were rusty and England weren't then? Even though they hadn't played at all since the last world cup.

When did I say that? Of course England were rusty. NZ would have trounced your mob too

Overconfident AND sensitive. What a combination

It seems that the Aussies are the only sensitive ones. If you have supported GB/Eng as long as some of us have then you know how to deal with disappointments. Yet we keep turning up and the Aussies will be genuinely crapping themselves if we make a fast start in Melbourne.

We have had good sides in the past that have underperformed and this side is one of the stronger ones. Any side with Burgess x 2, O'Loughlin, Graham and Hill can worry the Aussie or Kiwi packs.

We are expecting nothing from this tournament but we are going to stick it up the Aussies and see if they wobble. Against the Kiwis they were wobbling big time.

We also wanted a crack at you next year in a revival of the Ashes series but guess what - you were too tired to come out to play.

lol what exactly do we have to be sensitive about? This is probably the weakest Aussie side in decades and our expectations have never been lower.

Australian fans have watched our team lose the '08 WC and the '10 4N finals on home soil. We are under no illusions when it comes to threats to our winning tourneys champ. The over confidence that certain pom fans are drawing here is laughable though given your teams track record of disappointment. One would think you have learnt your lessons after so many years of being let down.

Keep talking it up though, its entertaining in the least

Me and Spud will be going into overdrive this week - we are eternal optimists. Also, enjoy it while it lasts because you won't even be in the conversation next year thanks to your stupid players union.

England nearly knocked us off in Cardiff because England/Great Britain have always been a tough game for us when on their home soil. If people wanted to make 'whiney excuses' then they were ignoring history and blatant facts, England on their home turf are & always have been a very different prospect.
