Craig Field has advised Newtown that he will be returning next season when his committments conclude in France. What a terrific asset he is for Newtown I read also the club signed a NZ centre who is 105kg and can run 100m in around 11 seconds, I hope that is not Kiwi time but real time.

who are the 10 players we have lost for next year?
will tabua be returning after his stint with pia and is kaleopa staying or has he found a club overseas?
is alf duncan still kicking on and barnesy?
i think we can make a good go for the eight next year. we were on track this year before all hell broke loose which took the team a while to recover. thanks tricky!
good to hear field is staying on.
and are the souths juniors boys returning ie. Nicholas, Wood....?
and have Newtown picked up any of the Guildford boys. there is a lot of talent in the team that could be wasted if not signed.
alright. i know its a lot of questions and im already getting bored in the off season. cant wait to the sevens qualifiers.
cheers

Mal,

Tabua has agreed to return after his trip to Paris as has Luke Ellis and Tony Phillips. Alf had an offer to trial with Saints but I believ he will be wearing blue given his work situation. Barnsey is undecided as due to his work he cannot always turn up to train.

Hope Barnsey will be back, he had his best season in 2003, and totally rocks.

With a team like Alf DUNCAN ( PISSOFF Saints ), Luke HESSION, Bilal NAJARIN, Tubua, Monah, Bring back the legend Steve SKINNO SKINNON, New blood from the Barter Cup ( that souths can't steal ) ( what was the 2003 deal, CORRUPTION ?????!!!!!! ), or just armed robbery ???

Come on Russell RICHO, one more season for passion legend, give it to them on TV during the 2004 grand final.

Luke ELLIS and Tony PHILLIPS with experience in France. ( Don't get injured boys, PLEASE )

Craig FIELD being better than most half backs in first grade, ( We notice and actually know how good you still play mate ).

WE WILL ROCK THEIR WORLD.

The only problem being that we are Newtown and we expect ( although fingers are crossed that it won't ) that the script will change 2 weeks prior to kickoff.............AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes , he still has talent but he played his cards wrong in First Grade. If he stayed at Souths he would have been a sucess as when he headed off to Manly like all players did then to try and become an International that ruined his career. Then the West Tigers killed his credibility.

Does anyone know how the guys are going in France, any injuries ETC ?.

Are they all playing for the same French club ? If so how is the club fairing in regards to it's position on their competition ladder.

I had a fearful thought the other day. What if their club is going well and is a chance to win their final. Would the clubs management not make an offer to good to refuse to Fieldy and the boys in order for them to stay and play in that final, thus missing the start of our season over here.

I certainly hope they are playing well but not too well given that thought.

Does anyone know how they are actually going ?

Also Mono Mal asked if Garth and Nicholas would be back. I don't think that Nicholas will be as I heard he wanted a release last season as he felt he wasn't getting a fair run in Premier League. Although I thought he was a good player, and his game against Manly at the start of season 2003 at Brookie was very good when he stepped in for an injured TRICKY and the boys really gave it to the SeaEagles.

However IS Garth WOOD coming back ?. It would be great if he was. He didn't get a run in Premier league for Souths which was an absolute insult to his abilities, and it would be tremendous to see him back in the Bluebag jersey alongside SKINNO who is apparently also returning from Easts.

Also is there any more word of Alf ( The Legend ) Duncan staying with us.
We need him for 2004, and if he wasn't it would be a typical but devastating blow.

Forwarded for information ???????????????

2 true blues.
im fairly certain Craig Field and Tabua are with the Pia Donkeys where Craig Field is the captain coach. the Donkeys are a fair chance of winning the comp and have consistently been one of the top team in the Elite One comp. last time i checked they were undefeated for this season.
and Garth Wood did actually get a game or two for Souths in premier league last year.

The Wests Tigers didn't kill his credibility - Craig Field did.......

Izzo, Craig never wanted to go to Manly but was not happy with Alan Jones and wanted to play for Balmain. It was Alan Jones who brought Bozo into the picture and bamboozled him into signing. How many Coaches would get their star player to sign with an arch enemy.

Thanks mate. I guess that means that Craig and Tabua will miss the start of our season. That's a shame.

When will they be returning to the Bluebags.

How many rounds will we without them for????

I heard Craig will only miss a couple of comp matches. (mid-late March). So that won't be so bad.

I was out at the Weekender stadium for the Sevens wildcard comp on 21st January. In the programme I read that Scott McLEAN is playing for the Bears this season. He played very well in the Bluebags Jersey against USA last season when the Jets absolutely slaughtered them. I can't remember the score ( I lost count ) but it was seventy something to four I think.

He looked very good scoring multiple tries and kicking goals from all around the park.

I was disappointed when Souths did the last minute dirty on us and he did not end up playing for us after all.

He was a junior player with Norths and has returned to his grass roots.

I also noticed you have signed up other promising players. However as I was only interested in the Newtown games, ( and it was 35 degrees in the shade ) I went over to the Leagues club to wet the whistle in between Jets games.

How did Scott go in the sevens. Did you guys win against Samoa?.

Can't wait for 21/02/04 when we play you's in the Frank Hyde Cup. Our new signings are great, and if the club holds them until that date, and does not sell them to back stabbing Souths, it should be a great game.

Watching our new signings play at the sevens would however suggest a Newtown victory is more than likely.
