If we lose him, I think it is more about Fifita and his personality. He seems to love attention, drama, excitement and craves the spotlight. He has, in NRL, played for Oz, played for state and now won a premiership. Where does a huge, drama and excitement queen go from there? To another sport... Something new... As much as I would hate to lose him, sadly I see him using the FKL situation as an excuse to justify his own short term need for attention and drama. This doesn't take away the seemingly selective and unjustified attack on him by the NRL, but he can still make his own choice and the more difficult choice is to stay in League.

My take:

1. He is extremely valuable to us, and we need to do everything to keep him - imagine our side without him and Gal...

2. As I've said in another post, I've been a Prison Chaplain - there's no crime in visiting a prisoner.

3. He needs to get away from the spotlight for as much of the off-season as possible. Enjoy the team trip (assuming there is one), but not TOO much...

Right on cue.....

PREMIERSHIP-winning Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has hit out at the NRL for “hanging Andrew Fifita out to dry,” declaring support from the Sharks would keep the hulking prop from walking away from the game.

The NRL integrity unit continues to investigate Fifita since The Daily Telegraph revealed his support for one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge six weeks ago.

The governing body, which last week banned Fifita from Australia’s Four Nations tour, said it was still waiting on additional information from police on the matter.

‘I’M ON MY LAST CHANCE’: FIFITA

But an irate Flanagan said the uncertainty that lingered over Fifita was unfair and had affected his mental health.

“They have hung him out to dry for a long period of time,” Flanagan said. “The police had information, where is it, mate? Where is it?

“What has he done wrong? Can they just come out and tell me so we can deal with it. The police have spoken to Andrew about his association with Loveridge — the police aren’t doing anything about it. What’s the NRL doing? Why are they causing all this trouble for him?

“If they’ve got something then come out and tell us what they’ve got.

“If not, come out and say we’re satisfied with Andrew’s explanation and we wish him well. Away you go, son. Sorry. They won’t say that word sorry.”

Pressed on whether the NRL should apologise, Flanagan said he simply wanted an end to the saga.

“I want to find out what Andrew has done wrong, what he is accused of,” Flanagan said.

“No-one has ever told us, bar supporting a bloke and he has apologised for that. I don’t know what else he has done. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...an/news-story/3decfdde7b5cb5329ba1509dadfd495

Just watched the Jones interview. Something doesn't seem right to me.
Why is a Murdoch journalist on MurTel going into bat for Andrew Fifita?

Well maybe if it gets to court The Murdoch press can say well were only publishing opinion pieces and we published both sides ... Up until Miranda devines article supporting Fifita It was an out of control witch hunt.

Anyone ever notice how police love traps and Penalties that far outway the crime ? Speed traps where a sign is partly hidden ,Mobile phone traps like the one I got caught in while waiting at lights a few yrs ago....Quick check of a message to see if I should turn right or go straight ahead due to request from a tenant .NO chance of being on the phone in traffic No more distraction than say turning on the radio. Phone down after 6 sec.max. Suddenly theres a guy in plain clothes with gun in holster cowboy style trotting across a lane of traffic towards my car (more dangerous than what I did) Luckily I didnt panic and bolt as it was a cop Shortly after I pull over to their set up trap in the adjacent parking lot to receive my lecture from a little girl in a uniform and 300 doller fine . Irony was not twenty minutes before I was behind a guy in traffic who was blabbing away on his mobile .I was thinking "Wheres a cop to book this idiot?"

Well fifita got caught in Three way crossfire of traps . Lazy cops wanting to throw book at someone to stress their One punch laws and consorting laws, rather than actually doing real police work. Media and their agendas, And NRL with theirs. Its Nanny state stuff ,but I wouldnt call it left wing or right wing, both sides of Politics use same tactics.

Do you remember what Johhny Lang once said about Cronulla?
It was along the lines of the Sharks not being a big club and they get no say or voice..
Well times are changing, we are not going away and we are only getting stronger.

John Lang said 'the Sharks have no money and no influence'

He was right then. its starting to change now and it is f**king sweet seeing the club stand up for itself. Rugby League and especially the NRL is a cesspit of nepotism, back handed deals, bitching and agendas. f**k every last one of the bastards that tried to bring this club down.

Shove it up them Flange. Smart move getting Fifita a softball interview with Jones. This is not a club to be pushed around around like an ugly red headed step kid anymore.

The roosters are fairly influential and they couldn't stop the NRL raping Pearce. Only Brisbane seem to have that kind of influence.

Southland I think these statements you make couldn't be further from the truth.

Where do you see him craving the spotlight?

If you said Anthony Mundine I'd agree with you but Andrew Fifita actually comes across as a bit camera shy as far as talking. If you got to see an interview with him after the Grand Final he came across as very humble and polite. Yeah he likes to celebrate when he scores a try but so do most players and it's never offensive.

I don't think he's looking for an excuse to leave league.I think he's sick of the vindictive media painting him as this evil character. He's genuinely scared of being rubbed out of the game he loves. If you too thought that influential people were trying to get you, you'd start thinking of alternative places to play out your career in peace and where you were more appreciated.

The FKL story is one of the biggest beat ups ever!

Exactly!

When there was a bit of drama with Wayne Bennett this year.

It was common knowledge as a Queensland journalist that the growth of your career would be greatly restricted if you wrote a negative piece on him.

The Sharks need to start boycotting journos who antagonise them and then soon the rest of them will get the picture.

This.....guessing the media were pretty disapointed with the relative low key end to the season/mad monday mishaps so Fifita is pretty much all they had to run with. Think you'll find the protracted investigations by the integrity unit would be to avoid criticism from all and sundry if they released their findings too soon after the Grand final....maybe we should sacrifice a really shithouse player with a really hard-core misdemeanor to take the heat off Fifi.

Much love for Flanno after that article. I'm proud that he and the club have taken a stand for Fif's.

Isn't he currently in Prison getting public support from the Australian Coach? Or does he no longer support nor contact his brother?

This will blow over. Support is growing.

Once the big-hitters starting speaking up...and once the common sense argument began to be heard the cockroaches started to scuttle.

Tumbleweeds.

As Flanno said, “... bar supporting a bloke and he has apologised for that - I don’t know what else he has done."
How do you continue a argument to support the stupidity behind all that.

If this wasn't Feefs, but rather some Qld god, like Thurston or Inglis, the matter wouldn't have raised a sweat.

Meninga proved that.

If it were Thurston, Inglis, Smith, Thaiday or Boyd, it would have made the press, but with a complete different slant.... 'Brave RL star helping to rehabilitate beleaguered childhood friend'....
