Fight Hots up for Morris Twins

THE Morris twins could be reunited at St George Illawarra in 2012 if the Dragons have their way in the NRL open market.

Split up when Josh signed with the Bulldogs at the end of 2009, Sport Confidential understands the Dragons are most keen to reunite the sons of Steve "Slippery" Morris in the Red V.

Both left-edge players, the twins would be guaranteed to form a dangerous one-two punch for the premiers.

But the Bulldogs are bound to want to have a say in the matter, with Josh one of their best signings of the past two years.

No idea if the article has any truth, but maybe Josh wants back in, or maybe the Club wants him back in, I suppose 2012 would time well with Cooper retiring and unsure on Gaz yet, or where Kyle will end up playing, im sure Kyle will slot in somewhere though.

Taking into account Josh Morris, Darius Boyd, Kyle Stanley and Jason Nightingale are all off contract at the end of 2011.

Personally I think the priority in the backline is securing the long term future of Darius Boyd - which from all reports is directly related to securing the future of Wayne Bennett. So for me the key would be signing Bennett to a 5 year contract and then Boyd to a 5 year contract.

Next person to secure would be Kyle Stanley as one of the best and most versatile young players in the game. Sign Kyle to a long deal and slot him in as required - fullback if Darius leaves, centres if Darius stays (with Cooper leaving at the end of 2011) and halves if Soward or Hornby leaves.

Jason Nightingale is a super player and super team man who would be the next player as a priorty to sign a deal.

Taking into account we have players listed below for a few more seasons - Josh Morris would be 4th on my list of players of importance for Season 2012 and beyond.

Brett Morris (2012)
Taigive (2012)
Soward (2013)
Hornby (2013)
Gasnier (2014)

I'm only guessing but if Josh did want to come back he would probably have to take some sort of pay cut, unless Matt Cooper finishes up next year.

Given it was in Sport Confidential, the gossip section of the Telecrap - something tells me it's a space-filler and doesn't really tell us anything we wouldn't already know.

I actually thought it was common knowledge that not only do Saints want Josh back, but Canterbury want to sign Brett as well.

Bulldogs will win, apparently they still have some money left over from SBW's departure.

Dunno, I'd prioritize the signing of Kyle Stanley over quiet a few others, that guy is a diamond that is nearly fully polished, has good clarity and defensive nous.

i've hear the best way to sort out a fight with twins is to get them to sort it out in a pool of jelly...

Short of offering Bennett $10M a year and teleporting him back n forth to qld each day I think he's lost to you after next year. Whats he got left to prove at the drags - he's shown a team that always should've been performing better how to actually perform better, delivered 2 MPs and a premiership and who knows what for 2011. If Boyd's true to his word then he'll only wear the red v for one more season. The drags priority during next year will need to concentrate on filling a Bennett-Boyd hole.

How on earth could you afford Josh Morris?
We're a rich club cheffy, haven't you heard?

While tripping over your tongue, you may have missed the chatter about this being a 2012 signing. A lot of players will be moving on at the end of next year, Cooper included.

Also, we don't need Sports unConfidential to tell us this. The chase for J Morris has been a point of discussion ever since he went over the fence.
