The first article makes it sound like Hayne was Fijian raised and that Uate spent his childhood days dreaming of playing RL in Australia.

I'm a bit disappointed the 'academy' the Knights were talking about is just two players so far.
I'd love to see the Knights and maybe some other NRL teams sign up enough 18 year olds to form a team at a good school.
It really wouldn't cost more than a few K per player - a fraction of what they spend on Aussie prospects.

After readng that whole article, the question I ask is: how the f*ck is Aquila Uate playing for Australia? It's just plain wrong. THE BLOKE IS FIJIAN.

And before anyone blabbles back saying he is a Woy Woy junior I say who gives a stuff - the qualification rules are WRONG.

They're only wrong when these players play for Australia. When Hayne plays for Fiji that's perfectly okay. But when Uate plays for Australia there's an outcry. To this day Uate has still never played a game of RL in Fiji.

He'll play next off season when the Knights play the Bati in Fiji as part of the buildup to the WC - pity he won't play for Fiji.

I think Hayne playing for Fiji is wrong too. He is Australian. Or at the very least, if he wants to play for Fiji then fine - but he can't switch to Australia. I am dead against players playing for 2 countries.

So in a thread that talks about Hayne and Uate you choose to bitch about Uate's situation, but not Hayne's. And you're still suggesting it's okay for Hayne to choose Fiji, but not okay for Uate to choose Australia. This is the double standard I'm talking about.

I commented on Uate because of the newspaper article that featured an extensive interview with uate's mum and his family background.

Then when you brought up Hayne playing for Fiji I agreed with you. After playing for Australia first, he should never have been allowed to play for Fiji after that.

But there's never a thread on that is there? No one ever says Fiji is "poaching" players do they? People want rules that are consitent but the same people don't even have views that are consistent.
