Final reflections on 2003

I don't mean this thread in the sense that 2003 can never be mentioned again, as if that's going to happen . Rather I mean it to be a look back at 2003 in it's purest form untaintend by whatever events may transpire for this great club in 2004.

So there I was sitting back yesterday afternoon watching the Road to victory dvd and by the time i got to the bulldogs match it dawned on me. I knew well before the finals that penrith were going to win the whole damn thing.

It wasn't knowledge that was based on logic, at that stage I still had my doubts about penrith's defence, it was just a gut instinct pure and simple. And you know what? I think alot of other people felt it to, it's just that very few were prepared to come out of say it out of some sense of superstition that they would jinx it.

Of course its easy to say such things in hindsight and maybe I am just dellusional but there was something about the team, the supporters and the competition that just came together last year. It was a very special thing and I think even if we can win the premiership again this year in many respects it won't feel nearly as good.

2003 was definitely one out of the box.

The feeling of last year can never be repeated.

Whilst it will give me happy memories for the rest of my life, I'm now focussing on what the future beholds. Last year set a benchmark that can't be topped, but hopefully it will create the foundations for a super-team at the foot of the mountains for years to come.

We will be back for more in 2004. You better believe it! 8)

A good friend of mine sent me a text message on October 10 2002, it read "PANTHERS, 2003 PREMIERS". I kept that message just to remind me of how great a team we have. I believed it was going to be our year and I didn't care who I told. Sure I got laughed at heaps of times but who's laughing now!

Actually, after we absolutely gave it to the Eagles in the last round in 2002, I had this premonition that it would somehow form the catalyst for the future.

But not in my wildest dreams did I ever foresee anything what 2003 was going to behold.

At the start of last yr, me & Big Mick were talking on MSN, and mick said that he has a good feeling about this season, he couldnt wait until it started, and i agreed, although i didnt think we'd end up on winning.

Also out of the Panthers, another moment for me is watching Michael Witt on tv (a big difference from playing with him in jnr league )

In 2002 i was saying from the heart that 2003 will be the panthers year because of some of the little things that they got right in 2002. They were only minor but i had the feeling that they were forming to something big. I also felt that moments such as those moments that they had in 2002 with some dubious calls at times, and how they were so close to winning some games was going to be a huge mental strength builder mainly to Gowie. I had a feeling he would turn those moments into steel focus. I also feel they had a huge affect on Priddis.

I was asked who i thought was going to win before the season started in 2003 and i never hesitated in saying that Panthers will. I was dead serious. I also said the eels will get the wooden spoon so how ironic was it when we booted them out of final contention in Rd 26. I know it's not the wooden spoon but somehow i knew they had to get a mention because i felt that it would be of Panthers doing of their result in 2003.

I think i should really get in tune with my physic abilities. It's gives me goosebumps at times.

I can't seem to even want to focus my sights on how we will fair this season. For the first time I am feeling trapped in a moment. But that is good. :D

Just changing the subject slightly...
The Newcastle forum had a thread about Laurie Daleys top 8 for this year and he had Dragons at no.1  and Penrith at 6 :?
Didnt realise Lozza was going into stand up comedy....

Nah, don't worry, it's perfectly normal.

Once Phil Gould fearlessly predicts that the Roosters will win the whole thing this year, everything will be right with the world...

I think that was the idea mate... she has the REAL numbers, but she's being greedy, and she is not going to reveal it to us.
