Finals Eligability

Are there any rules regarding which players are allowed to play for the clubs once the finals come around?
Eg, should the Eels miss out in first grade can the Keating boys just drop straight back and play the finals for the U20's?

Could be a few first graders at lower clubs who are eligable age wise for the U20's finals.

I'm not sure on the numbers, but you have to have played over a certain percentage of the season in the Toyota Cup to be eligible.

Matt Keating would definitely be ineligible. Kris Keating would more then likely be fine. I'm pretty sure Lachlan Coote, Wade Graham, Masada Iosefa and Joseph Paulo from the Panthers are all eligible. Although Wade Graham is out injured for the remainder of the season.

I believe that you need to have played atleast half your games in the NYC.

Email from Michael Buettner:

Thanks for your enquiry regarding eligibility for Finals for players competing in the Toyota Cup.

The simple answer without going into to much detail is a player such as Chris Sandow will be required to have played the majority of the games throughout season 2008 in the Toyota Cup to be eligible to compete in the Final Series. I believe Chris has played approx. 10 Toyota Cup games therefore would be required to compete in another 2 matches of this competition to be eligible for the Finals Series.

If Chris remains in the NRL squad for the remainder of the season then based on the number of games he has currently played he would not be eligible for the Toyota Cup Final Series. I would expect, depending on how well the Rabbitohs are going with Chris at halfback that they would look to qualify him for the Toyota Cup Final Series prior to the end of the season.

although, if the NRL team is in the finals as well, even players that haven't played the required amount can play for the 20's team if they're not required in 1st grade.

would sonny fai be eligible for the finals then????

Only of the Warriors NRL squad is still in the NRL finals and he is not required for their team. As soon as the NRL warriors get knocked out of the finals so does Fai.
