David Kidwell
Scott Hill
Jake Webster
Steve Turner
Nathan Friend
Jamie Feeney

All these guys are certainties to leave at seasons end. With Quinn being our only signing for 2007, it forces me to raise the question of "what are we going to do with our money" as I understand we would have a fair bit to play with.

Joel Moon and Mad Dog would not demand that much you wouldnt think? (thats if we get them)

Opinions anyone?

waldron said we were having salary cap issues and thats one reason they didnt go all out to re-signed webster...not sure of the extent of the "issues" but i do believe most of the players that have left have left because the storm obviously feels like it needs to off-load players to stay under and didnt go all out to keep the said players.

With Hill going, plus the likes of Webster, Kidwell and Turner - we're should free up a sizeable chunk of 'cap'. I suspect they've used this to secure their existing young talent such as Cam, Inglis, Slater, Crocker, Cronk etc - which is smart.

I also believe the Storm are being smart by not paying over the odds for a big name (with a not so big track record), which will allow them to recruit smartly when the time is right. With everyone falling over to get Nate Myles was a joke. He might turn out to be great, but there is too much risk forking out $300k pa for a player like him.

As the management say, its best to get players who 'want' to come down here and play for (a) a great team (b) a great coach and (c) a great city.

I'm happy with the approach we're taking at the moment, but feel we may need another back (not Macdougal please...) but more importantly - a quality utility player to replace Nathan Friend and Feeney next year.

Yeah i agree about Friend, although Smith usually plays 80 minutes, what if he gets injured.. who is going to be able to produce.....Aubusson???

O'Sullivan was in the paper today saying they wern't interested in Myles as the refused to get into a bidding war for him. He also said that they wouldn't go out and by players just for the sake of it.

Look, our forwards stocks are diminished but I think if we got out and get ourselves one or 2 quality front rowers that Bellamy can turn into stars as he did with White and Crossman we'll be right.

Outside backs; again, I want Chris Walker to stay. No point in paying for MacDougall when hes got lttle or no footy in him no footy in him... in short I would

* sign Joel Moon as Hill's replacement
* resign Chris Walker to a 2 year deal
* sign one or 2 decent front rowers as a year of full time first garde can only lift the game of Kaufusi, White and Crossman.

Two words fellas..............

Brett Finch!
ha!

seriously
Storm missed out on Myles which aperently they matched a 275k offer
meaning they have at least that to spend if not more,
I'd be happy if they re-sign Walker or convince Hill to stay and play out his contract.
I dont really care much for whats left over in players this season
so I'd rather keep what we have.
