STORM five-eighth Brett Finch is set to collect a winning grand final bonus on Sunday - even if Melbourne lose. That is the bizarre outcome of Finch being the first player to turn out for both grand final teams in the same season. Under NRL rules, clubs are allowed to give half of their $400,000 winner's prizemoney to players without it affecting the salary cap. Finch would be entitled to a share of the Eels' payments after playing the first four rounds in a blue-and-gold jersey. Exactly how much he would be in line to receive from Parramatta depends on what formula the Eels use. Some clubs split the money evenly between everyone to have played for them during the season and others allot it on a percentage basis determined by the number of games they played. According to rugbyleague.com, Finch would receive either $1681 or $7182 if Parramatta win. He could also get separate winning and losing bonuses if the losing team splits the $200,000 runners'-up prize as well.
