Finch Wins even if he Loses

STORM five-eighth Brett Finch is set to collect a winning grand final bonus on Sunday - even if Melbourne lose. That is the bizarre outcome of Finch being the first player to turn out for both grand final teams in the same season. Under NRL rules, clubs are allowed to give half of their $400,000 winner's prizemoney to players without it affecting the salary cap. Finch would be entitled to a share of the Eels' payments after playing the first four rounds in a blue-and-gold jersey. Exactly how much he would be in line to receive from Parramatta depends on what formula the Eels use. Some clubs split the money evenly between everyone to have played for them during the season and others allot it on a percentage basis determined by the number of games they played. According to rugbyleague.com, Finch would receive either $1681 or $7182 if Parramatta win. He could also get separate winning and losing bonuses if the losing team splits the $200,000 runners'-up prize as well.

Will Finch get a bonus - depends on what calculation the Eels use....

Let's see - I'm GUESSING here, but I would think the calculation might be as follows:

(1) Does a player play for the club?
(2) Give bonus depending on how many games they've played.

The club is NOT obligated to give Finch ANYTHING - who on earth would think they'd be stupid enough to pay him a cent??????

Finch deserves about 50,000 if Parra wins lets see what he has done for the club.

- Made Ben Smith improve after he was dropped for criticizing Anderson about dumping Finch
- His departure helped lead to Robson and Mortimer forming a partnership in the halves
- By leaving he freed up room for Tahu to be signed which in turn lead to Inu playing better as his mentor/friend/idol whatever you want to call him was coming back to the club.
- A article I read during the week stated that Finch was cut in part because he wasn't able to fit into the game plan Anderson wanted that game plan has lead to the mid/late season revival and Grand Final appearance

Finch leaving was the best thing to happen to the club and he deserves something for that.

Finch was 2 from 4 before he left. We made the 8 by a solitary point. As such, he deserves his cut.

I sincerely hope we give him a share from our $400,000 Priemiers' prizmoney.
