Five players sent off in one game

At Penrith JRL grand finals today 'A Reserve' was won easily by St Marys over Emu Plains 36-4.

The lop-sided nature of the score resulted in some players redirecting energies to taking opposition players out of the game. After one Emu got sent off, there was a payback incident that resulted in an all in brawl. And when the dust settled, there were 4 more given their marching orders, all sent off. Three 'Saints' and one more Emu.

Is this a record?

Brothers outclassed Doonside 23-14. It was 4 tries to 1 until Doony got a consolation in the last minute. The Roo's has lost only 1 game in 19 during the season and considering that they had 8 players that had appeared in 1st grade metro grand finals in recent years you would have thought that they would have put in a better showing.

I guess it was a combination of a champion team beating a team of champions and the minor premiers not getting week to week football at the season end.

Darren Baker ran the show and got the man of the match award while Doony 5/8 Marc Webber got the Hawkesbury Radio player of the year award.

5 isnt even a record for the day. In the South Sydney A grade grand final on sunday, La Perouse had 6 sent off.
