I think we are at day 5 or 6 since we got news of Atkinson signing we are nearing the end of this cooling off period 🤣 hopefully an official announcement this week.
Based on 10 business days after the announcement, my reckoning is that confirmation on the website won't be until Monday 16th. The 10th business day falls on Sunday the 15th but I don't think they would confirm until the next day. so, less than a week to go I think.

Yeah most likely as long as we get one before Christmas, was thinking this morning hopefully the Sharks take a look at Jock Madden for depth as he has been given permission to look elsewhere & release Atkinson early. Wishful thinking however but stranger things have happened.

Yes that would be good but somehow I think Fitzy would want to get his team into the Grand Final next year, like all other coaches would want of course. To at least have a better chance, he would need Atkinson around just to make sure that he has the halves covered in case of late in the year injuries. Madden is OK, but to me not in the same class as Atkinson, which I think you would agree Matt.

We also would need to offload a player since Flanno wants a middle forward for that 30th spot. I think that whole Rube Goldberg machine needed to start rolling before we signed up Ilias to be honest. And I assume we tried, but Cronulla weren't interested in letting Atko go. Fair enough

I agree 100% but they were looking at Volkman as a stop gap solution also.

I feel getting Illias was a good move honestly I think he will have a great season & will get extended before November 1.

I think Lawson ( after a learning period) becomes a super star centre.
We have two good centers in Suli and Holmes, with Allan and a few juniors as backups. Our wings spots need attention, and those who do best in the off-season should get the nod. My tips are Sloan and Lawson.

Lawson could follow in the footsteps of Saints internationals, Ben Creigh and Ken Middision.

The 1st player Flanno approached to poach when he started with us was Manu. I think you are right OT. There is a lot of Manu in Lawson.
When I had a look at his highlight reals I thought that S F probably thinks Sloane will struggle to make it so needs some extra cover across a few positions and Lawson potentially can adapt plus he is very rugged in all that he does whether attack or defence.

I will be watching his progression with great interest.

Sloan will surprise us all. If he bulks up ✔️, doesn't lose speed ✔️, learns of Gutho how to bring the ball back hard and fast ✔️, learns to talk more ✔️, defends like his life depends on it ✔️, he will become a fan favourite.

We will soon know.

I wish him no ill but am a long way from convinced about anything other than his pace.

It takes a special mentality to want to run through brick walls let alone repeatedly crash into them and have 200kgs trying to push your rib cage below ground level.
