Flanno's New Signings

This Year?

I hate Braith but I agree with him on this occasion. Did the club not do due dilligence before signing Ilias? If he isn't ready then why is he playing 1st grade? If he was our best option then it says it all really and if the club was dumb enough to sign him based on Cook's recommendation, then the lunatics really do run the asylum.

Everything in the game now is under the microscope rightly or wrongly. Flanno's comments came while the game was fresh in his mind. Hell check out the running game commentary on here (me included) at the end of the game. Flanno was pretty calm by comparison. Move on. We live to fight another day. Difference is this year someone could have kicked the field goal. We definitely know that last year Bunt would never have.

I'm glad the coach was annoyed. Shows he cares.
Storm in a teacup and nothing to see here. People tend to miss that the "journalist" brought Ilias up, not Flanno and he responded in the heat of the moment after an unforgivable loss.
Maybe he should have been wiser and answered more diplomatically but geez some of these athletes who play supposedly the toughest game in the world are real snowflakes when it comes to getting their itty bitty feelings hurt.

It's up to Ilias to prove he's an NRL halfback. If he does that all this nonsense goes away.

Fair mate.

I think Flanno could have answered the question along the lines of, " he wasn't alone in our poor effort to control the game ".

Flanno was left on hos own in the presser and seems to me he was very antagonistic.

As Braith mentioned, illias knows he should’ve iced the game. Also said when Flanno had the sharks he could give the outburst like he did publicly and privately and the hard nosed players he had would respond. So now it’s a wait and see game to see how our crop of players respond.
Is it just me or has Flanno jnr stopped touching the ball and they’ve given illias full rein. I thought hunt hogged it though it seems as though Kyle is taking less & less touches .

There are three ways to fill the Top 30.
1. Internal recruitment
2. Picking up players who are released from time to time or from rugby or the Superleague. These players can be pretty good, e.g., Tyrell May or that Cheese guy.
3. Recruiting players whose contracts are ending, a season in advance after the Nov 1 deadline, as we have done with Atkinson.

Here are the players who are signed until end 2026 and thus can be approached after November this year. So who do we want from this bunch for season 2027?

Payne Haas is still only 25 years old.

I believe the way we need to fill our top 30 is:
1. Priorities our top 17 which should be the best 17 available.
2. Next select 6 depth players who can cover several positions and preferably have first-grade experience.
3. Then select our best 6 Juniors who have first-grade potential.

4. Additional players may be added to other lists and these should come from our junior ranks.

5. other depth players can be selected from our reserve grade side.
