Flying from Perth to watch Manly vs Cronulla, Round 3

I live in Perth but am going to Sydney on the weekend of Round 3 and am hoping to go to the Manly vs Crounlla match at Brookvale.

I haven't been to Brookvale before and have heard that it is a small ground. Is it generally easy to get tickets on the day? Or would it be best to book in advance? Being an oval, are there parts of the ground where the view is bad?

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely try to book tickets beforehand.

Why is Brookvale called an oval if it actually isn't an oval?

Getting tickets sorted this week. Going with a neutral and his girlfriend who supports Manly.

Grand Stand it is.

If you see someone there in a Cronulla shirt, that will probably be moi!

Yeah, I was worried about that!

Didn't think Manly were that bad compared to some other clubs but you'll always get some who take things too far.

Thanks for the warning, I'll have to give that second thoughts.

LOL - don't listen to Lotti, I doubt she's ever been to Brookie.

Plenty of opposition supporters sit on the Hill every game and have no trouble, the drunken ones that give it to Manly supporters and act like fools on the other hand get the same back 10 fold.

Got my tickets sorted by a mate in Sydney. Couldn't get into the Jane Try Stand for some reason (didn't get an explanation why, maybe sold out early), so just general admission now. Ah well. Will see how it goes. Hopefully similar result to the most recent match at Brookvale. :)

Well I'm back from Sydney. Have to say Brookvale is a neat little ground. Strange that there are three seperate stands covering half the ground, never seen that before especially the corner stand. Even though the crowd was only 13k, the stadium looked packed and the atmosphere was great. I was on the hill near the Cronulla Sharks Supporters Club. Both sets of fans were great. It was a good night (apart from the result), gotta miss those suburban grounds and local derbies as you don't get this at all in Perth (unless you follow state level comps). I would definitely go back again if I have the chance. :)
