Flying - Stories

Just got back from Brisbane and I fly regularly..

Things that pee me off...

Window seat passengers who go to the toilet every five mins...get an aisle seat.

Those that want to make conversation the whole flight when you know that you have nothing in common with them.

Those that get on at last minute and attempt to shove their hand luggage on top of yours with no regard for your luggage.

No need to mention the food..dehydrated road kill or stale sandwiches etc are the standard.

Give us your stories people..

People who fly Tiger airways and then bitch to the media about how crappy the service is or how their flight was delayed by 5 hours. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, PEOPLE!!!

Love flying. Take off and landing are always my highlights as I try and spot the person who is shitting themselves, there is always at least one.

Hate the pricks who decline their chairs on short flights, leaving the person behind them with f**k all room.

Go overseas regularly but only have a few gripes.

People who get up while the plane is still taxiing to the gate. Quick hurry so you can be the first to wait at the carousel!

People who don't fill out the arrival card properly. How hard is it to tick a few boxes! After a 10+ flight the last thing you need is a delay.

Screaming kids. Not so bad if the parents are at least making an effort.

I'll be flying for the first time in August. Going into it as blind as a bat so I have no idea if I'll be afraid of flying. Also as for the whole you get what you pay for, hence why I wont be taking short cuts. Knowing what I'm up for. Just hoping things go smoothly.

I had some fat guy next to me on a flight to NZ once, that was crap, overflowing onto my seat. At least I was on the aisle.

Flying LA-Sydney I was on the window, the person on the aisle was about 6 and a half foot, I dont think I bothered attempting going to the toilet most of the time, wasnt worth the hassle of trying to get past this person.

I just got back into Australia on Thursday morning after my worst ever flying experience. I've flown both interstate and internationally (the latter quite a bit more than the former) and have generally had decent experiences.

This time? Flew from Seoul to Sydney via Guangzhou with China Southern Air for $400. Cheap for a reason. Horrendous food, rude staff, no in flight entertainment on either flight, and the eight hour layover in Beiyun Airport might have been the longest eight hours of my life. No Wi-Fi around, no currency conversion facilities, no air con in 34 degree heat, and three terribly over-priced cafes serving essentially the same stuff.

Had to pay $19 US for a ham & cheese sandwich and a glass of orange juice. I shit you not.

The sole positives for the airline are the cheap price, comfortable seats, and the fact you get a little gift bag including a travel toothbrush, toothpaste, ear plugs, and a sleep mask.

Not really had a bad experience but this thread has made me think about all the airlines I've flown with over time.

Qantas, Virgin blue, V Australia, Ansett, British airways, air New Zealand, Thai, Sas, air France, Alitalia, Spanair, Finnair, Cimber.

Qantas, VA, Thai and BA are all on par IMO. Worst was probably a tie between air France and Spanair. Cimber (a small airline that flys between some of the Nordic countries) was hilarious. A flight that could have taken an hour was about two and a half as they stopped to drop passengers off at another airport along the way.

Love flying though.

Just a question..... with Bin Laden now gone, does that mean we can masturbate on planes?

Love ThaiAirways however some of there aircraft is ageing i.e. 6 months ago I flew to BKK-LHR without IFE.

IMO Emirates, Cathay Pacific and SingaporeAir are the overall best airlines.

Malaysia Airlines & Thai somewhere in between.

United, AA, KLM, Lufthansa, BA and Qantas are one of the same from my experience. Service can be lacking/horrible.

Air Asia is a good budget alternative. Have never tried AirasiaX
