Let’s just see what happens next year, who knows a fresh approach in terms at least in the high performance area could add something. If this bloke spent 11 seasons at Melbourne maybe he can stop our fade outs. Plus the pre season hopefully will be completely different and hopefully brutal. Especially Corey Norman he needs a make or break year.

Friggin Romper Room is run better than our club. If they had a dud host that was unpopular they would change them.
Our mob keeps the host, but rearranges the kids and paints a new set, hoping the problem will go away.
I'm so disappointed with this JV run club, it's just about sucked the passion & love of the game out of me.

Penrith over the past few years, under Gould, have not been scared to moved on some very high profile players. Some times it paid off & a few times not. (Just salary cap decisions) At the same time they seem to of had someone to take their place. At the end of 2020 it sounds like there will be a lot of movement at SGI. Hope good decisions are made. It will be tough on supporters as many like myself get attached to players (I identify SGI with the team & players, so I hate change). Lets see what happens. We didn't expect the great start to 2018. Even if we start well in 2020, it is the fade towards the end that worries me.
It is a sign of a crap coach. Players can play with out a coach, but teams cannot.

You forgot 1 thing...When has the current coach ever taken anyone's advice on board ?

Hence the constant shuffling of assistants....Straight from the mouth of a former assistant....

That being said, the momentum is beginning to shift....Coach has friends in all the right places BUT...the appointment of Shepherd may mean that he is losing his grip on all the power....

How on earth did he survive more than 2 Years....it beggars belief....Should have never been extended twice let alone given the job in the 1st place....

P.S If he survives, then we lose a bunch of players for sure....Club cannot be so stupid or stubborn ? Or could they ?

I have been having a peek at the Parra forums and a lot of people on there are pretty shattered about Jimenez leaving and many credit his mid 2018 arrival with a turnaround in form. Apparently he is a total hardarse and no one will be slacking off with him there. I think we need to come to terms with Mary being there but I do think this bloke is an intelligent appointment and credit where credit is due.

Your post sums it up well Coffs , they as a joint venture simply cannot deliver the goods . It is a case of stumbling from one disaster to another , it as if the J.V. has not only 2 left feet , but 2 left hands as well .

And yes I agree with you that they have just about taken all the enjoyment out of supporting the Dragons , because of their inability to run the J.V. successfully and the apparent infighting between the two factions .

Where is the infighting though?

It looks more like incompetence than infighting..

Didn't Russell Crowe star in Romper Room ........ or was it their successful franchise, Romper Stomper?

Again means nothing if the Head coach doesn't take advice on Board...

I believe his days are numbered....I am hoping that we tank for the first 10 Rounds....McGregor needs to GO.

Correct...problem is people believe the spin....just go have a look at some of the positive comments on the Dragons Facebook page....

Too many people with short memories .
The Facebook page makes me sick.
I haven’t looked on it for months, I dared to criticise & was called a fair weather supporter(even though I’ve followed them for 50+years)& most probably by someone 1/2 my age lol. They talk as if we’re going gangbusters but don’t dare say anything negative.

Phil Gould’s Dragons review is complete. Eight staff changes — Paul McGregor’s not one of them
The Dragons’ season of hell is over — and so is the club’s controversial review of its football department and coach Paul McGregor.

The Dragons’ season of hell is over — and so is the club’s controversial review of the football department.

An exhaustive review, led by rugby league supremo Phil Gould, has resulted in eight staff changes.

Coach Paul McGregor, as expected, has retained his job after a shocking 15th place finish. He’ll be joined on the sidelines in 2020 by new assistant coach Shane Flanagan.

The eight changes are all in the club’s support staff system, including a new head physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach and a “mind and performance” coach who will run meditation lessons.

“Everyone at the Dragons were terribly dissatisfied with the club’s 2019 season campaign which resulted in this wide-ranging internal and external review of the club’s football department,” said CEO Brian Johnston in a club statement.

“The Dragons have made key structural changes to its coaching, performance and medical staff following the determination of a lack of experience within the wider group. This includes several new staff appointments to the football department.t

“It was noted throughout the review that there needed to be a greater focus on club culture and leadership. In acknowledging this, the club have taken steps in this space in order to bring further accountability and discipline to the playing group.”

Despite the review, the Dragons are in somewhat of a salary cap bind. Their roster has six holes to fill, and not much money to play with.

Releasing Euan Aitken, Matt Dufty or Luciano Leilua would free up some cash but the club still has work to do to round out their 30-man first grade roster.

Friggen hell. 24 players and still no wriggle room in the cap.
Hunt, Frizzell, Norman, T Sims, JDB, McInnes, Graham, Vaughan - I'd guess 5.5-6 mill there.
Aitken, Lafai, K Sims, Dufty, Leilua..1.5 - 1.8 mill (13 out of 30) and say min 7 mill gone
Of course I have not a clue andf guessing on current market values being bandied around in the media and there would be 3rd party stuff but I can see why.we are struggling
We are too forward top heavy in regards to salary market value so the balance is not there and why our fringe reggies depth and back 5 (or other 17) would have to be on base or near minimum salary and are not up to it.

The look on the mans face saids it all - “ Hell I got away with it - those idiots will believe anything I tell them “

And that is so very sad , as it would be very close to the truth .

Agree 100% smarty
But there is a lot of players of contract , who will be keen to impress. And if we get off to a good start people will forget problems we have, I know you won't but .
If Mary goes and the board stays as it is we will have the same problem in the future .
