1) How long have you been playing league for?

From the earliest grade possible (don't remember what that is)

2) What club(s) do you/did you play for?

Lots.

3) How would you describe the quality of the players in the competition which you participate in?

Poor standard of footy in general. Only really play in this grade cause i like the fellas on the team.

4) Are there any players in your comp that play dirty (ie John Hopoate, Adrian Morely, Michael Crocker, Danny Williams style), or do 99% of the players in your comp play fair?

Huh, we are talking about league right? and yes there are dirty players.

5) Have you had any serious injuries? If so, how many have you had and which one would you say was the most painful?

No.

6) If the answer is no for question 3, have you had any injuries during the time you've played, or managed to stay relatively injury-free in your career, like the likes of Cliff Lyons?

Never missed a game. Only time i was ever taken off the field was when i rolled my ankle but i ended up having to come back on 5 minutes later.

7) In a game which you have participated in, what is the worst injury you have ever seen?

This year our full back broke both the bones in his leg.

I'm actually sort of looking for a new club at the moment. I'm thinking about trying to play in a higher grade. Just not sure where to look.

1) How long have you been playing league for?
Played for 12 seasons

2) What club(s) do you/did you play for?
11 season for the St Clair Comets
1 season for the Minchinbury Jets

3) How would you describe the quality of the players in the competition which you participate in?
Some of them we're quality talents, John Dixon and Lidnsey Pracy were two blokes i played with who i recon had talent to go all the way.
The penrith comp is the best in the country i recon, St Pats, St Marys and St Doms were all quality sides every year, St Clair was also... when they had Gala's with the parramatta comp aswell it was even better, the best of the two best league districts going at it, alot of talent on show there in the top grades

4) Are there any players in your comp that play dirty (ie John Hopoate, Adrian Morely, Michael Crocker, Danny Williams style), or do 99% of the players in your comp play fair?
I was the dirtiest prick in our age group  but most of them were OK, St Doms were always grubby bastards. Loved those games!

5) Have you had any serious injuries? If so, how many have you had and which one would you say was the most painful?
I almost snapped my achillies tendon and that was the most painful, to this day it still gives me troubles every so often, it and my knee was what forced my retirement

7) In a game which you have participated in, what is the worst injury you have ever seen?
Wasnt in this game but was on the side lines waiting to play next, I saw a bloke get spear tackled very badly, he lost feeling in his right side of the body, ended up being taken via Helicopter straight to hospital.

Soz, I should also add this (want your opinion on this):

9) When someone is about to tackle you, do you ever get worried that you could possibly get injured or not? Because (even though I never played at any of the higher levels), I use to get that thought in the back of my head, when I saw someone running in at me at full speed (maybe it was fear, i dunno).

Nope, i was a hooker/half, i was smart enough to know when to run and when no to, i specialised in the 10 metres out step and burrow, i had a good leg drive and i was agile so i was difficult to get a handle of, scored a fair amount tries... Got smashed a fair share of times to but thats footy never really phased me

10) on the topic of brawls, have you been involved in, or seen any really bad ones on the footy field? Tell us about it

Had a few games called off due to fights, some classic all ins, some i instigated and come out looking a treat, others i was a bloody mess, such is life eh

1) Haven't played for about 4 years now, but did play consistently for 11 years then on and off for another 6
2) St Marys and Rooty Hill in the Penrith League, then Macarthur Bulls in Sydney Police footy.
3) I played with and against some future NRL players and then played with and against some not so good players.
4) Every comp has dirty players. Police footy was full of them (guess that's why they decommissioned it)
5) Broke my collar bone twice, broke many of my fingers and now have an annoying knee complaint(but nothing too serious) the collar bone was the most painful.
6) ???
7) A blokes forearm snapped in half and just hung there once in police footy. The sound and sight of it was horrific. Then the fact that the guy wouldn't be able to work for months because of it, probably put me off playing much after that.

1) How long did you been playing league for? 8 years

2) What club(s) do you/did you play for?

Started off with the High School team, Played for Tumbarumba Greens

3) How would you describe the quality of the players in the competition which you participate in?

Lots of big slow blokes who had the ability to break you, if you were tackled by one of them within the first 15 minutes. Plenty of Fijians, Tongans and Maoris. Halves were generally pretty crappy, except for this one guy I played against once, Trent Barrett, he had a big kicking game and step. Couldn't tackle for sh*t though, and was scared of being tackled. He always found the gaps though, I always thought he'd make a good centre.

4) Are there any players in your comp that play dirty (ie John Hopoate, Adrian Morely, Michael Crocker, Danny Williams style), or do 99% of the players in your comp play fair?

It was bush league, no video, man, if the refs are looking the other way, then you're always innocent.

5) Have you had any serious injuries? If so, how many have you had and which one would you say was the most painful?

Only one, ended my season and career. I was running across field and attempted to step inside a defender, he grabbed me front on, and then some fat sh*t prop stumbled and fell on my outstretched leg, bending the knee inwards, and somehow, my ankle went in the opposite direction. I was on crutches for 12 weeks.

6) In a game which you have participated in, what is the worst injury you have ever seen?

Mine was bad, mainly cos I heard it. Another was an opponent who was running dunning the sideline and a team mate chasing him, swung very high and hard and broke his jaw. I swear everyone heard something go crunch in that.[/quote]

1) 1 Season (played union ever other year)
2) St Ignatius' Riverview in a combined Manly/North Sydney comp
3) Most were average, some where good. Young pearce played in our comp. He was good, but there were other players that where MUCH better than him, yet he is now the Roosters halfback.
4) Most were good. Some were dickheads and played dirty.
5) Bruised my collar bone in the semi and couldn't move my arm for a week, but it wasn't bad.
7) I havn't witnessed any bad injuries, broken bones or anything like that.

Not really. Just a lot of wanna be try-hards.

Broken nose. Broken Collarbone. Broken ankle. Collarbone easily the most painful.

Nothing dramatic. My mate twisted his knee in a tackle. Had to get a reco, & couldn't run for a year.

Generally if im returning from injury, the first 1-2 weeks im a bit cautious, but after that its just let lose. Not the sort of player that worried about what he would feel like tomorro.

10) on the topic of brawls, have you been involved in, or seen any really bad ones on the footy field?
Been involved in? Naaa not directly in rugby league. Im a ref, that wouldn't look to good.

want to explain how morley and williams played dirty sh*t for brains?

Warrington's Great Britain enforcer Adrian Morley is an unchecked "maniac", according to New Zealand rugby league chief Andrew Chalmers, after a high tackle on Awen Guttenbeil went unpunished.

The tackle occurred while Morley was playing for the Northern Union in their 25-18 defeat on Saturday to the All Golds team based around a core of Kiwi players who now go on to play a three-Test series against Great Britain and one against France.

"Someone should have to answer for this," said Chalmers.

"Morley should not be able to play in the first Test against the Kiwis on Saturday and there would be an argument that he shouldn't be able to appear in the next two Tests either.

"The referee did the right thing in putting the tackle on report but the system has taken no regard of player welfare in the aftermath.

"Does that now give Morley carte blanche to go around aiming as high as he likes throughout this series? You'd have to think so."

Chalmers said he had aired his views with the English Rugby Football League (RFL) but said he had no confidence it would review its stance on Morley, who also played in the Australian NRL with the Sydney Roosters.

"They have no concept of what is right and proper. After all, they see nothing wrong in allowing a maniac like Morley to operate with a search and destroy mentality."

Morley escaped any potential penalty when a three-man panel convened by the RFL made a split decision not to refer his case to a judicial hearing.

"It's a disgrace," said Chalmers. "There were two tackles in that match which would have incurred suspensions in the NRL, one on Awen Guttenbeil and the other on Nigel Vagana.

"The one on Nigel wasn't even put forward for consideration and Morley's effort was pushed under the carpet despite (NZRL official) Neville Kesha believing it was serious enough to warrant a suspension of between four and six weeks.

"It's clear the RFL has little interest in player health and welfare if it allows such tackles to go unpunished."

Chalmers added he was even angrier that a player with Morley's hardman reputation should escape punishment.

"He was a repeat offender in his time in the NRL and he has a history of offending throughout his career in England," he said of the English prop.

"This decision should be reviewed whatever the regulations are.

"The judicial system in place in this country is laughable if this is the way it works."

You don't really think much when someones running at you. You just get in the way & do the best you can. But of course there's always an element of fear.

10) on the topic of brawls, have you been involved in, or seen any really bad ones on the footy field? Tell us about it.
I've never seen a brawl at the footy. The brawls I've seen have been at OzTag

I disagree that dislocating yr knee is one of the worst injuries. Done it a few times and can still play sports.

One of my mates snapped his leg in a soccer game and now can't walk properly. His bone came out through his skin and sock, Very nasty.
