Four Tigers run out of Tiger Town

Four Wests Tigers players, Cherry Mescia, Shane Walker, Lee Murphy and Jason Lowrie have all been told they are free to negotiate with other clubs in a bid to reduce their player payments and overheads. The club is also looking for a younger, fresher look and I would have to say this is definitely a move in the right direction for the club and should go a long way to ensure their long term viability with the club set to lose lose Tyran Smith and Owen Craigie to the hapless Raiders. For the sake of the game I hope the Tigers are successful and can look forward to a bright future.

Rugby League needs the Tigers just like it needs Souths. Expansion is great, but the inner city rivalry should not go to waste. I hope it is a step in the right direction for Rugby League's sake.

I have to wonder why they have given Mescia and Walker permission to negotiate. Both these players are very underated and wouldnt be costing them alot. Also, with both Walker and Lowrie set to leave they must have some good front row prospects coming through or are planning on signing someone.

I understand them letting Lee Murphy go (im sure Kevin Neil will make him a offer though) but Walker, Mescia, Lowrie, and T.Smith take a pretty big and experienced chunk out of their forward depth.

Bebeto - Yes, Rugby League needs the Balmain Tigers, not Wastes Doughnuts.
