I was fine with it. I didn't notice it for the first 20 mins, although if you focus on it, it is definitely odd to try and work out what is controlling it. It seems to react somewhat to the on field action, so I'd be interested to know if this is being driven manually be a sound engineer or something.

Personally I don't think its necessary, but its being done with the casual viewer in mind. Since these game are being broadcast into multiple international markets now as well that probably came into Fox's decision making.

Didn't have an issue with it. It seemed at a lower volume than the example clip in the first post and really not that noticeable.

Highlight for the virtual audio...

In the 2nd half, the broncos spend a tonne of time in their own half. When they finally make it into attacking territory there is a noticeable sarcastic cheer from the fake crowd

Unsure what fox virtual audio is as I watched channel 9, but is the canned crowd only for the telly or is it at the stadium so the players can hear also???

I thought it was fine as well.

I was indifferent. I think it's cheap, but it does have the potential to influence viewers responses the game. i.e. the game is a bit of a bore, let's up the crowd to make it sound more intense or exciting.

My big issue was where they got their sample from. It reminded me of this:

It needs tweaking, but anyone who says they’d prefer no noise at all is kidding themselves

I'm really indifferent to the crowd noise. It went better than I originally expected.

However, I loved the no noise. You got to hear the talk on the field (which personally I found really fascinating and insightful) and the collisions really cut through to the broadcast.

Fox sports are giving viewers the option with their games on Saturday, they will broadcast the same game over two channels, one with noise the other without.

Unsure if possible but should just have a button like subtitles
