French team to play BARLA
Wed Sep 17, 9:40am (France)
Written by: Bertrand Leze
Whitehaven’s Recreation Ground will see its first international game of this autumn take place this Saturday when host Great Britain BARLA will face the French Chanticleers.

An 18-man squad will gather today (Wednesday) in Toulouse to prepare for the clash.

The line-up could be as follows : Estebanez Fabrice - Abasse Fourcade - Hermet Jérôme - Chaubet Florian – Van Snick Mickaël - Frayssinous Laurent - Grésèque Maxime - Hechiche Rachid - Berthezène David - Gagliazzo Romain - Fakir Djamel - Ferriol David - Carrasco Laurent. Interchange : Raguin Sébastien - Coulibaly Bouatou - Pramil Olivier - Gérin Julien - Banquet Frédéric.

The last time they played each other was during the inaugural Victory Cup in Moscow last May. France won the game 30-24, 6 tries to 3. The players selected at the time were those whose clubs were eliminated from the Elite play-off.

This time a nearly full strength squad will travel to Cumberland. Only Warrington’s Jerome Guisset will miss the game because his team is still in contention for a Super League play-off place.

But with the French Elite competition only starting end of November, meaning lack of match fitness, and the British ARRIVA Conference already a few rounds old, it should be an open match as there’s no real favourites.

Don’t miss the action and support international Rugby League, go to Withehaven on Saturday !
