On Saturday March 21 Henson Park will hold the opening game of this cup seriec between Newtown and the North Sydney. A JB trial will be on at 3pm andthe main game at 5pm.

Last year the series was tied so we need to make sure that Frank return home to Henson this year where he will always belong, (sorry Bears and Tigers).

So has has plans to come out on March 21?

The JB team will play Narellan as the warm up instead of playing North's Flegg team. First match at 3pm. Go the Jets.

Jim Beam won 28/24.

Newtown Premier league win 20 to 12.

Tries to Bilal, Andrew Le BRETON, Alfie, and David VIAL.

Alf 2 goals from three attempts.

BLACK missed other goal.

Looked like we had them when it was 14 nil at half time. Newtown looks promising for a good year. Norths came back with a late try to make it the final score of 20 to 12.

Scott McLEAN is a good goal kicker for Norths with two from two.

Good effort by the boys in both grades today. I think that Norths were pretty poor to be honest and they will struggle this season.
As for our boys, you can't really judge alot from a trial when there is so many players coming on and off all the time. Still it's encouraging to see the boys play well.

Where were the crowd? I know it's only a trial.... But still!

Last season we beat them in the 1st Cup match, only to have them come back and beat us at North Sydney Oval.

I was at the game and although Alf and Russell RICHARDSON combined for some great entertainment, it was still not enough to get over the line against Norths on that day.

This season they have signed some good players. I think it was just that some of
our players really played well in both attack and defence, and it was that Newtown played so well that they closed Norths down.

Good to see Ben COOK back playing in the earlier game. He scored a try almost straight away.

Good to have a little left in the tank this season.

Also good to see Bilal back in Premier league. He scored a great try, and went hard all day as usual.

Great stuff Bluebags!!!!

Seeing Cookie in action was great.

I also heard the news down there that Troy Barnes will be back at the Jets this year. He has had a full on schedule at work of late and was unable to commit fully to pre-season training. But he has informed the club he is ready and will be in full swing for the Blues.

The performances were OK. I think Newtown still needs a lot of improvement.

Our trial opponents (Norths, Balmain) are all at the bottom of the pile. We haven't really challenged ourselves and won't until the Melbourne game. Same for the JBC boys. I hope the players are not complacent and they realise there are much better teams in both competitions.

There are 4 weeks to go until our first comp matches. That will mean a lot of cutting and possibly a few new signings.

Hopefully the JB boys get another run. 4 weeks with no matches may eave them underdone. They need at least 1 more trial.
