The floodgates appear to be opening. Something similar should start happening with PNG's young players and NRL clubs.

Meanwhile, 18yo speedster Francois Theresin is on trial at the Bradford Bulls and will play in the senior academy this week.

He is from UTC and apparently runs 100 metres in under 11 sec.

Sounds promising. If France could develop a couple of very fast wingers to compete for one slot while Pelo takes the other, then we might also hope that Younes Khattabi could develop into a top quality centre to partner Vincent Duport in the World Cup next year.

Right now I have pencilled in Bosc as full back, wiith Pelo, Khattabi, Duport and possibly Stacul or Planas in the three quarters. But France needs two quality people to cover each slot. Once we get to that point France will be a competitive national power.

Why are these kids trialing with English sides packed with Aussies and Kiwis and not the French side which is packed with Aussies and Kiwis?

It makes no sense what so ever!

I think it's better for the development of all to have players at many clubs rather than all under the same system, it breeds ideas and of course different styles which is what people want to see.

For 1 the NRL is becoming a tad robotic with the big defence and kicking games, I do love to see the ball thrown around and the odd line break or 2

There are hardly any Aussies and Kiwis in the French side compared to most other SL sides?

Amar Sabri? Khattabi? they dont sound french they sound very arab

About 10% of the population of France is Muslim, mostly Arab. These players you mentioned are likely children of immigrants. Substantial numbers of French citizens of ethnic Arab heritage -- mostly Moroccan or Algerian -- play rugby league. Most famous and accomplished are Jamal Fakir and Adel Fellous. By comparison Maxime Greseque is the son of a Singaporean ethnic Indian father and a French Catalan mother. They are all French.

This is not unusual in French sport. Take a look at the French soccer team. Count the number of caucasian faces. You may be familiar with the name Zinedine Zidane. Born in Marseilles of Algerian parents. In 2006 17 of the 23 members of the French soccer team were immigrants or children of immigrants. The French rugby league team, though it has several ethnic Arab members, has a smaller percentage of racial minorities than French soccer.

Hazem el Mazri is an ethnic Muslim Arab, and an Australian. Robbie Farah is an ethnic Christian Arab, and an Australian.

I remember Maxime Greseque's father, Yvan, playing for X111 Catalan and France. Although he looked Asian, Greseque doesn't sound very Singaporean/Indian. Did he take his wife's name?

Speaking of Greseque, he finally gets his SL debut tomorrow for Wakefield against Bradford, all being well.

Al-Sabri went well for Hull academy last night apparently, scored a try in their win over St Helens.

ozzy_osman, forgive me if you're comment was made genuinely but.....what a stupid comment! Do you live in a bubble or something?!

Albert has answered you politely but which country in the world doesn't have a sizeable, non-indigenous population these days?!

Don't think so -- taking your wife's name is most unusual. More likely he changed his name to Greseque when he immigrated. After all, taking on majority ethnic names from the host country is not unusual for new immigrants who are from an ethnic minority, especially a racial minority. It was much more common thirty and more years ago than it is today.

But I really don't know the answer. I will try to find out.

So, did Gresque play? Sounds like Wakey weren't at their best. When I heard Vagana was sent off, I though wakey would run em down, but they didn't.

Yes, Maxime Greseque did play. But not at his natural positions of scrum half or five eighth. Because the Wakefield hooker Sam Obst was injured early in the game, the coach decided that he had to use Maxime as hooker. I have only seen ten minutes of video highlights, leading up to tries, where he did nothing especially good or bad.

According to Wakefield fans on another forum Maxime did some good field kicks, but he also gave away two penalties for high tackles. In the video excerpts that I saw Maxime was the victim of the rampaging Joe Vagana's arm in the face which put Maxime down on the ground and led to Vagana being sent off just before half time. However after medical treatment Maxime continued to play.

It is amazing that Wakefield could not prevail with an extra man for the entire second half. But it was clear from what I saw that Wakey were not at a good enough fitness level. In one Bradford try the Bulls even had a two man overlap!

The Wakefield forum fans want Ben Jeffries dropped and Maxime Greseque given a chance in the halves.

Geez, what is it about talented French halves being played at hooker by Anglo-Aussie coaches?

If Greseque gives penalties away for high shots the Wakefield coaching staff have only got themselves to blame as he's not used to the heavy defensive workload of a 9.
