Friend sinks gang-rape case

A STATEMENT to police from a friend of the accuser of six Bulldogs players contradicted her account and contributed to the pack-rape case against them collapsing.

The statement, by friend Kylie Hubbard, was at odds with the 20-year-old victim's account on several points other than the one already revealed - that the complainant had not, as she claimed, visited the team's Coffs Harbour hotel to return Ms Hubbard's missing wallet.

Sounds like a few fibs were being told

I think that it's referring to the credibility of the witness. The accuser has lied about certain aspects of her story as independant witnesses have refuted various claims. That then brings her whole story under a cloud of doubt when you put them all together.

sorry, so is she trying to say it's all bullsh*t or something?

The accusers whole alibi for going back to the hotel was to return her friends wallet which she had left at the nightclub. Her friend has refuted these claims and the wallet was found at the nightclub (i think the day after the alleged rape).

That snippet is saying that the accuser's story was wrong about *several* other matters (not just the wallet), according to her friend's statement and other witnesses.

This is my personal opinion but for anyone willing to settle out of court for $20k seriously wasnt raped. For those of you who have had people close to us that we love have sex forced on them without concent no money would even be enough and the only payment ever would be to have his balls on the chopping block then a prison cell waiting. No money can ever compensate for the mental effect it has on a female.
She heard from the police that no charges would have been laid, so she thought she had better make some money out of this before it all goes away. These people make me sick and watch too much TV (Kobe Bryant Doco's)

I haven't seen anything suggesting that she WAS willing to do that

It appears a call WAS made offering to 'make it go away' for $20,000 but given the police have confirmed the call was made from 'nowhere near coffs harbour' I don't see why it should be automatically assumed it was the girl

It could just have easily been anyone at all who saw the chance to try and make some money - just because they *said* they could make the accusations go away doesn't mean they actually could.

has it occurred to you that making a $20,00 phone call, which is untraceable, would be more beneficial to the accused rapists - on other words, put the accuser in a bad light. Who stood to gain from the call? think about it.

It is believed that the call was a hoax. Police say that the call originated far from Coffs Harbour. The police disregarded this call as evidence.
