sounds like someone at the club has decided to go on a pr trek for mortimer to try quieten down the fans that don't think he was worth the $$$ or effort the club put in to retain him.

no-one disputes the defensive effort mortimer put in for that game and no-one expects him to pull a rabbit out of his arse to to win a game. what people do expect from a half is that they can direct their team around the park and be able to create scoring opportunities for the team.

tim sheens once said it takes at least 50 games for a rookie 7 to build their game to nrl standard. this may be true but mortimer isn't showing signs of being a great ball player. they guy is a great supprt player, solid defender and has a good run and grubber close to the line. it would be good if he could learn to run the ball with suport runners and challenge the opposition's defensive line like a good ball player should. i think he and kk have similar styles of play but i don't think our team can play both of them in the halves. i really think mateo should be in the halves with him or be given more of the ball playing responsibility.
