FTA coverage of NSW Cup

It's a real shame the ARLC didn't do a deal to get the NSW Cup live on FTA at 2pm live every Saturday or Sunday. QLD got it, but the NSW Cup misses out on live weekly coverage on FTA yet again.

Does the ABC in NSW show the Shute Shield still? Surely the ARL will be pushing to have the NSW Cup shown there instead...

The Shute Shield continues to be shown on ABC at 3pm and it seems the current broadcasting deal restricts the NSW Cup to Foxtel.

Hopefully we'll see the NSW Cup being broadcast live on Saturdays from 3pm at least. The new rights deal stipulates that 3 games from Toyota Cup, Schoolboys and NSW Cup will be shown live each week on Foxtel. Ideally the match of the round will be broadcast live each week leading into the 5:30 NRL game.

While it's good news that the NSW Cup will get on free to air TV, I think it's a shame that the games they'll likely show are games at NRL venues before the NYC games with virtually nobody in the ground. Would love to see them show a stand alone match at Henson Park, showing that there is a rugby league world outside of the NRL.

In Brisbane we get the QRL game on live at 2pm and its not held at NRL games/venues. Hopefully the NSW Cup follows that lead because you might only get a few thousand show up and it looks better at the surburban grounds than it does at an NRL stadium.
