The Gabba implementation is possibly the best when it comes to multi-coloured seats. On TV it can be really difficult to work out if there is a crowd or not.

Townsville Stadium would be better if they didn't do the light grey Vs.

Not sure why more don't do it as it also helps from a maintenance perspective.
Re: Gabba. Only when the ball is traveling at speed. Otherwise easy to see empty seats.

Where does it say the capacity will be kept at 30,000?

Turns out the capacity is 36k. That would cost 2.7 billion though which they apparently can’t afford so interesting to see what happens.

Spending close to 3 billion for the same capacity on a white elephant seems nuts epically with Suncorp ageing and in need of a larger capacity

Ew don’t link me to that website. They just counted that click as 10,000 website engagements.

Seriously though, yes the location of the Gabba would restrict its highest possible capacity. Not sure what that potential number might be though.

Geez the Brisbane Olympic stadium is a boring topic. Anyway…

The $2.7B was for a 50k Gabba.

My guess is that The Gabba will receive 300m-600m for a really nice refurb. Upgraded corporate facilities, Women’s dressing rooms, Structure upgrades, Wheelchair and safety upgrades. Giving the Gabba a new 30 year life span. I can see the capacity being slightly reduced. Will look great for the track n field events, and will continue to be QLD’s Main Cricket Oval.

Suncorp looks poised to get the Spoils of the Olympic money. A 68k-72k roofed Upgrade is in the box seat. Costing 500m-1B.
Opening n Closing ceremonies will be held at Lang Park. The QLD Government will see more value given the number of Rectangular Sports played at the ground.

That would be amazing

The nrl can only dream of stuff like this

And still getting 1.2 billion of taxpayers money (half the stadium cost) if this gets approved

not being super familiar with Brisbane but seem reasonable as it is near transport and the CBD

- new oval stadium for Olympics then used for AFL/Cricket afterwards
- athletics warm up track to be main athletics arena post olympics
- new indoor arena centrally located
- new aquatic centre

Then assume the Gabba is downgraded to suburban cricket ground with some new housing
Maybe Suncorp gets an upgrade

Not great for rugby league but makes some sense

Except the LNP campaigned on no new stadiums in the recent state election.

I know it's a political promise and crusafilli has already wavered as he floundered around trying to avoid answering a direct question in a pressie to start the 100 day review.

Brisbane also won the rights to Olympics on that basis as well.

Turning the Gabba into a basin reserve/allan Border oval type stadium would be a good idea
