Interesting when you see who's off contract next year.

2008

- George Rose (anyone know whats happening with him?)
- Matt Ballin
- Steve Bell
- Steve Menzies
- Shane Neumann
- Mark Bryant
- Jason Wells

From those, Ballin and Bell will probably be the priorities to re-sign. Ballin moreso, because Bell's getting on, but he's probably got another year or two in him after next. They've got big raps on Neumann to replace Bell, so you'd presume he'll be re-signed. Also, with Beaver retiring, it'll probably allow us to upgrade Ballin's contract and perhaps Wells and Bryant's.

This is the line up I'd be going with for Round 1.

1. Brett Stewart
2. Michael Bani
3. Steve Matai
4. Steve Bell
5. Michael Robertson
6. Jamie Lyon
7. Matt Orford
8. Jason King
9. Matt Ballin
10. Brent Kite
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Glenn Stewart
13. Luke Williamson

14. Mark Bryant
15. Glenn Hall / Jack Afamasaga
16. Steve Menzies
17. Adam Cuthbertson

Perry certainly has the talent.

His biggest problem is probably Newcastle. I mean, he got away with doing nothing under Hagan, and then Brian Smith expected to actually work for his spot. His pride was very probably wounded quite heavily by that development. I doubt he'll come to Manly with the same petulent attitude of self entitlement.

We're not short of props, that's for sure: Kite, King, Bryant, Hall, Cuthbo, Rose, Perry. It's a far cry from the days of Gary Winter and Grant Woden.

Good old Wooden.

He always gets a spot in the local rag, being captain of Umina I think.
