I'm backing Fighting Fund to turn the tables on Gorgonite here. Handy run behind him last start and meets him 4.5kgs better. Boss stays on and he's drawn better this time. Gorgonite for second although the jump to 58.5kgs is a worry for me. Saxon will improve second up and up to the mile.

Grandiloquent resumes over a mile, so Hawkes may have him ready for a good first up run and Tall Timbers will be there abouts.

i'm goinjg to go with a bit of value here in a pretty crap race

PYRENEES PRINCE won his first 4 starts including beating RADETZKY MARCH on debut by 3.5 lengths!!!

hasn't shown anything since in better company than this lot, but has been disappointing

i hope they actually ride the horse a bit closer the the pace from the 2 barrier, and give the horse a short sharp sprint home from the 250 mark

ordinary race for me, and i actually hope that i haven't made the races by this stage

Race 1 GALILEE WELTER HANDICAP (1600m) at 11.35pm

Joice’s thoughts – Interesting little race to kick-off the day. Gorgonite looks certain to lead unchallenged and does race best under those circumstances. Fighting Fund meets him 4.5kg better for a 2.9 length defeat at Rosehill last time which just about puts them dead-level. Expect the odds to be favouring Fighting Fund so leaning towards him just ahead of likely favourite Gorgonite. Tall Timbers can improve and did beat Bentley Biscuit two runs back.

Payne’s thoughts – I’ll go with Fighting Fund here. He meets Gorgonite 4.5kg better here than he did last start when 2.9 lengths astern and is drawn to get the run of the race. Tall Timbers was very disappointing last start but must be given another chance as he went too well at his first two runs back from a spell and I’m also expecting a very competitve performance from Mahtoum who did finish within two in the Chelmsford secong-up las spring and a repeat of that run would see him giving these plenty to think about. I’m taking Gorgonite on here due to his rise in weight combined with the Randwick mile.
