Just finished watching on delay. Few things.

We never show anything in trials and have ended up in the 4 or thereabouts every year.

As for players.
Gabreal is miles away from NRL. His defense is piss
Berrell and cacciatore service was ordinary
Stonestreet is Darren clark

Felix looked good
McCullough was also ok

Apart from that very disjointed across the park.

Yep agreed on both the last 2 posts. I do wonder what our club approach is for trials. I get the feeling Fitz hates them and doesn’t give a shit. Almost used them as fitness run only. Doesn’t take away from the fact players show very little skill in many facets.

Let’s see if we run a first grade squad next week for half 1.

Any winger out there we can get? Stonestreet worries me big time
I’ve seen enough. Hope Fitz is tempted to give Hiroti fist crack. Stonestreet might have a better ceiling, but he isn’t there yet, and I’m starting to think maybe never will get there.

Pretty tuff in here, you do realise only 2 of the starting 13 will have a chance of being in the starting 13 in rd1?

Gabreal has always had trouble switching on week in week out particularly against lower sides or when the game is gone.
He is one of those players that will go up a few gears when he gets his shot.

Any player in the team needs to put a shift in, that's the key, have to track back be there support in breaks, getting there on coverage tackles.
No hands on hips business, the players that don't want to do this each week then they should be moved on

If we get an injury to our 6, 7 or 9, we are goosed - there’s zero coverage from below.

To be honest, if you look at our entire squad, apart from the middles, we’re left with Hiroti and H.Puru (who I suspect will be the 18 & 19 most weeks) as our injury coverage. Once we have to dip out of our top 19, it’s looking very very bleak.

As for our replacement winger, I’ve called him Sh*street for a while - offers nothing.

Despite what was on display, it looked to me like a fitness run more than anything else. Our regulars were not really into the contest. The up side was that all of our regulars who played yesterday came through injury free. Eels had plenty of FGers in the backs yesterday. We had f**k all minus a fullback. Fa f**k sake its a f**king trial ffs.

In the other game, our halves were in total control when they had the opportunities. Trindal was exceptional and Hynes was pretty good also, especially early on, in a throw together side. I think H.Puru should get more games this year, he is showing more confidnece and ball playing skills. All of our other regulars played well.

The only worrying sign is the lack of depth in the halves. Pollard might get a call up over Puru, he showed more and will be better in a structured team

the stonestreet thing in interesting
this is your big chance fella

I seem to recall a similar line of thought this time last year.
In the 12 or 13 games he managed he showed stuff all.
You can add yesterday to that as well.

It’s a shame, as I was one of this hoping he’d kick on. But, based on what we’ve seen so far, I’m not holding my breath.

If you look at who would be in starting 13 from yesterday incumbent
Burns
Rudolf/Hazelton one normally starts
Stonestreet for Ronnie

The rest either come off bench or will be in Reggie's

I do agree with Coolum that Pollard over Puru, Pollard looks a lot more steady and can read the game, and Pollard looks so much better when you have an organised hooker

Not worried about a f**king trial.

Even though the way Mitch Moses was talking to the media at half time he would have you thinking it was a serious game.

lol.

Fellas! Please! Preseason trials are for the Clubs that need to get momentum into their season for their supporters. Preseason is sprint training for a marathon - Storm, Panthers and Roosters got flogged, anyone think they won't be there when the whips are cracking?

Which teams generally are under the most pressure? Tigers, Cowboys, Sea Eagles and I am happy to throw Parra in there as well.

No injuries? No problems.

Some dud performances, but it honestly looked like our first grade middles in particular were told to treat as a half baked opposed/fitness session.

Felix is a very interesting and unorthodox player. Good balance, foitwork and power. Things seem to happen around him. Showed decent technique in defence.

McCullough looks a goer. He moves awkwardly.

The spine was ordinary so nothing was doing in attack.

Kick defence was horrendous. Stonestreet has a lot of work to do. Lairing it up with 5 metre finishes does not a well rounded NRL player.

Its only a trial so not worth getting frustrated.
