Gasnier cleared to play
May 18, 2006
NEW South Wales centre Mark Gasnier will play in the opening State of Origin match after passing a fitness test on his injured hip this afternoon.
Gasnier was put through a tough fitness test by the Blues medical staff, who were satisfied the St George-Illawarra three-quarter would be fit to take his place against Queensland at Telstra Stadium on Wednesday night.
Penrith wing Luke Lewis, who was on standby to replace Gasnier, will now be released from the camp.
He is expected to be play for the panthers against Parramatta at CUA Stadium tomorrow night.
