the waratahs boss has said that

“We’re a global game, we’re not kicking around in a tiddlywink competition like the NRL, which is only played in this part of the world.”

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-...anzaar-to-save-sunwolves-20190311-p513d5.html

Now, this coming from a competition that just drew 16k to the biggest rivalry that their game has (nsw v qld). They play test matches that barely get 5 figures. But they are global, right? Lollerskateessssss

NRL might be tiddlywinks, but RU is the gummy bear you used to lick as a kid and throw up against the glass wall :bear:

He's right. However the game is clearly on its knees in Australia. It is very popular in the northern hemisphere and New Zealand, don't know why though.

F*ck he sounds bitter...

It was such an unnecesary dig and it really cherrypicks the threshold for success.

He must be strewing that his game and particularly his club are so irrelevant

We haven't seen anything remotely interesting in Australian RU since George 'Baldie' Gregan stopped throwing dolphin dive speculators at every breakdown.

Undoubtedly the worst sport in Australia right now. And that includes golf. They should be completely embarrassed with the state of their game.

Didn't mind watching Rugby when Rod Macqueen introduced a real attacking style to the game in the late 90s. But now it's reverted back to the boring old kick-stop-kick drudgery that's barely watchable.

Seems to me the highlights I see on the news always contain several shots at goal. Yeah, riveting stuff .

Don't get hurt because our game is suburban.

Oh really and then we have Toronto playing Toulouse in France on the weekend with over 6000 in a second division comp in attendance and down the road in Perpignon over 8000 watching Catalans.

Plus with 4 rounds played in the SL, the ratings are over 1.7 million so far with an average of around 250,000 per match. Not bad seeing as only two SL games are shown on pay TV each week. Would you like to compare the Australian Super Union TV averages with those?

LOL.
