Gilles Shown the Door

Found out last night that Simon Gilles was shown the door on Wednesday, dont have any details yet, but working on it

This is the bloke who made life hell for the likes of Paul Mellor, Chris McKenna, Preston Campbell, and (of course) Nick and Deano.

He's also the bloke who Paul Mellor was accused of taking a swing at. Which categorically DIDN'T happen, but from my understanding Gillies did have it coming.

mellor didn't swing at Gillies. he swung at another trainer

Funny, the big fella's wife told me that it was Gilles. And he NEVER swung, it was just a very heated argument over the best way to treat Mellor's back injury.

Mellor wanted to follow advice from a medical specialist, Gillies ordered him to do something in contradiction to that advice.

His nicknames became 'Simon Says' or 'Doctor Gillies' after that.

i've been told by the trainer in question's wife, that it was between him and Mellor

Well, that's possible.

But in relation to Gillies, it was HIS instruction that caused Paul's blow-up with the club, over his injury.

Gillies developed a reputation as Ando's 'hard man'. Doing all his dirty work...

Youre right 73 but the King of the Shire probably feels he is above such commoner dirty work, and rightly so.

Why come back to help a club that is being so poorly run at board level?

Make him the Club President. And a clean slate to work with. THEN he might run out as a trainer!

I will come clean about this. I have been in full time training for the last month. I am expecting to win a contract shortly just so I can be involved with the new trainer in some capacity. I can confirm that the new Cronulla Trainer will be Fran Willis.
