So here we are on the eve of another season. The Blue and Golds will again march out, high on expectation, and even higher on hope. It's been a long and slooowwwww 6 months without our beloved God-sent batallion doing their bit on the field. Even slower because 6months ago we were down and out, and us supporters had slunk to a rabble of hangers on, fighting with those that questioned wether all was good in the mother ship.
A few shrewd signings, and a few more of the right noises coming out of the club has all that dissipated. Thankfully we are all united as a blue and gold army again, ready to frighten the shit out of any pretenders with our massive scale of numbers, our foreboding intellectual superiority, and our fine voice.
I have had this feeling of pride well up in me every March since 1976. Sometimes we have been reigning premiers with a side capable of stopping the Red Army, and other times we look at a semi final berth as though it were a lottery win. Yet, dispite our status at various points in our illustrious history, I have never been anything but extremely proud to stand up and tell the planet that I was a Parra supporter, and will be so until the day I drop dead.
Parramatta stands as the greatest example of sporting dignity in Australia. I say that in comparison with our nemesis on Saturday, the evil scum of Canterbury. This pathetic gathering of twisted and socially putrid arsewipes continues to consume air that would better be spent in the lungs of lice! Meanwhile, as they happily continue to destroy this great game's credibility, Parra are there to build it up again. No need to go into current scandals, but the weight of it, plus the salary cap scandal, Traitor League, broken caps in 95, illegal shoulderpads, and a mob mentality of their fans continue to fester year in,year out. Even if I die a horrible death after living a life ofabstract poverty and misery, I will thank the good lord for my fortune of not becoming a Bulldogs supporter!
I am proud of my team. When the dogs go on sex crazed rampages, the Eels doschool visits. When the scum smash salary caps, our boys are doing Eels on Wheels tours. When the Dogs shafted the code for Murdoch $$$, we stuck solid with the ARL - thus saving the game. When the Dogs won premierships by using illegal shoulderpads and breaking Salary Caps, we just used Pricey, The Crow and a few juniors.
Parramatta are the zenith of sporting ethics. They are strong. They are good. Canterbury are evil. End of story.
Except to say that it's another season kick off, and yet again I am proud as punch of my team, and eager to to see them stand proud as the champions that they are. May they get the glory that they richly deserve in 2004!
And may it start with a 60 point hammering of the scumdogs tomorrow night!
HEEYAHH EELS!!!!!!!!!!!!
